This study described the research design, participants, procedures, data collection methods, and development of this case study protocol. The study was both quantitative and qualitative in nature, involving students enrolled in a CAD/CAM course taught via the Internet. During this study participants were involved in various interactive, computer-mediated instructional methods. Major themes included the strengths and weaknesses of the delivery mode and the implications of the new teaching approach for this highly technical and graphic intensive course. The findings confirmed an overall positive evaluation for the Internet course. The students recognized the advantages and potential of this delivery mode, but had problems associated with it. Technical problems such as difficult email access, installation problems, and pedagogical issues such as motivation and time management were encountered. The study discussed suggestions for solutions and offered suggestions for future research on Internet course delivery.
