Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this project is to show that the teachers' commitment to their call was increased as a result of teacher training at Deungmaroo Church of the Nazarene in Seoul, Korea. Research data was obtained through case studies and a paced literature study.; As background for this study, the biblical meaning and teacher's image of the teaching ministry were reviewed. A theological study of the meaning of the teaching ministry was made and the teacher's role was examined through the literature of Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther, and Wesley.; This study researched current teacher training programs in other Church of the Nazarenes and Deungmaroo Church. It showed that adequate teacher training programs were not being used in these churches. This study investigated the call to the teaching ministry and the educational experience of teachers before developing teaching training curriculum. Findings showed lack of teacher quality and positive attitudes when teaching children and youth. They preferred a small group class and a teacher-directed teaching style.; A teacher training program proved the importance of the teaching ministry and was useful in the church ministry at Deungmaroo Church. Following are the major findings of this study. First, ministry was not only important for the pastoral staff, but for every person. Second, the principle of Wesley's developmental learning and Luther's educational principle that learners have individual differences are very important.; Finally, some suggestions regarding teacher training are made. Teacher training programs should be set up and developed to enhance the Korean Church of the Nazarene.
