Abstract/Summary:
Organizations, which compete in the global marketplace, understand the need to attract talent from around the globe to access the most creative and dynamic knowledge workers in their industry. The ability to draw and retain these individuals can result in the need for flexibility in both workplace location and internal performance management styles. This research was designed to investigate how the role stress constructs of role conflict and role ambiguity influenced job satisfaction perceptions of knowledge workers within a higher technology manufacturing organization. The research was also created to add additional knowledge about this population to the existing published research. A correlational quantitative approach was employed using Rizzo, House, and Lirtzman's role conflict and role ambiguity scale and Bowling Green University's Abridged Job Descriptive Index. The results of the study indicated that role conflict and role ambiguity negatively influence job satisfaction.
