The problem addressed in this study was the lack of good information to assist educational leaders in applying technology to higher education academic student services. This is an applied context study in that the purpose of this study was to create new literature designed to assist educational leaders in applying technology to academic student services. This was achieved by creating a monograph utilizing a number of experienced educational leaders as chapter authors. Those who contributed to the monograph as chapter authors are considered to be leaders and pioneers in applying technology to academic student services. The monograph was approved by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) editorial board and is a NACADA publication.;This study created a standard approach or chapter template for the authors to use in discussing and comparing individual technologies and their application. This standard approach allows the reader to contrast and compare common issues regardless of the technology being applied.;Section I of the monograph covers the human-technology nexus and a review of related literature. Section II discusses the application of five major technologies in academic student services. Section III deals with the future role of technology in higher education and Section IV showcases ten technology innovations in academic advising. |
