Using diffusion of innovation theories as an organizing framework, factors associated with the organization, the individual and the innovation were examined for their contribution to explaining differences in readiness-to-implement.;A systematic random sample of graduate social work faculty provided the data for the study. Data were gathered with mailed questionnaires. A total of 131 faculty from 20 graduate schools of social work participated in the study during the fall of 1986.;The findings of the study provide insight into some of the variables affecting the readiness of social work faculty to implement information technology. Findings indicated that innovation variables complexity (the degree to which the innovation is perceived by the receiver as difficult to use) and compatability (the degree to which the innovation is perceived as consistent with existing values, past experiences and needs of the receiver) explained more of the variance of readiness-to-implement than did organization or individual variables. Based upon these findings, strategies for planned change were identified which should improve the readiness of social work faculty to implement information technology; potentially leading to increased utilization. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Social work faculty, Implement information technology, Readiness, Variables, Innovation | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
