Abstract/Summary:
This paper explores the relationship of Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) to Employee Satisfaction and the differences in Service Utilization among physician practices at a medical center in South Central Pennsylvania. Data for this quantitative cross-sectional study were collected from 144 employees and 395 patient data sets. As it relates to employee satisfaction, the results show that there is statistical significance when it comes to ratings in the following areas: Collaboration, Consultation, and Communication. Correlation analysis indicates that: Communication, Consultation, Handoff, Quality, Conversation, Helpfulness, Collaboration, and Medical Provider has a moderate to moderately strong correlation with Satisfaction of PCBH. The analysis also revealed that PCBH reduced the utilization of emergency department visits, and professional visits among patients receiving PCBH. As a result of the findings, the medical center should focus on implementing PCBH in all of its primary care practice locations.
