In order to improve the reliability of the distribution system and promote the efficient use of renewable energy,it is quite necessary to study the assessment methods and metrics for distribution system reliability.However,traditional reliability assessment methods usually evaluate the distribution system reliability from the system side,using system-side metrics,neglecting the user types and their various power consumption features.As a result,traditional reliability assessment can not accurately reflect the consumer-centric reliability level of power supply sensed from customers at the end of feeds in distribution systems.In order to overcome these problems,this dissertaion proposes a Consumer-Centric Reliability Assessment(CCRA)method and its corresponding metrics.A lot of real power consumption data of customers are used to anlyze the power consumption features of customers in the distribution system,and the types of power customers are categorized according to their different power consumption features and load profiles.The differentiated demands for power supply reliability from different types of consumers are analyzed.A quantitative calculation method for power outage severity sensed from user side,as well as the definition of Consumer-Centric Reliability Assessment(CCRA),is proposed.A series of new metrics for the distribution system reliability assessment based on CCRA is proposed.The reliability modeling methods for distributed generation(DG),energy storage system(ESS),load,microgrid,etc,are studied.A two-step Monte Carlo analysis method with a generator equivalent modeling method at PCC node is used to conduct the assessment for the reliability level of distribution system with microgrid based on CCRA.Based on CCRA,the critical components recognition method of distribution system reliability is studied.The concept and the calculation method of “reliability critical component” and “component reliability important level” are proposed.The definition of “reliability relationship curve” and its drawing method are proposed.Based on the calculation results of “component reliability important level” and drawing of “reliability relationship curve”,a CCRA-based recognition method for reliability critical components in distribution system is presented.The estimation of outage economic losses and the marginal cost & benefit of distribution system reliability are studied based on CCRA.An IEEE standard numerical example is applied to certify the correctness,feasibility,rationality of the proposed concepts and methods.
