Myanmar is a Southeast Asian country which depends mainly on the prosperity of hydropower resources for electricity supply.As the world well know,my country,Myanmar is a developing country which relies mainly on the agricultural-based economy.It is required electricity to emphasize on developing the industrial works,and hydropower is the reason for harnessing more in such plenty of water resources country.It is clean,and renewable resources compare with other energy sources,whereas it has some drawbacks that effects eco-friendly and high initial cost.However,many hydropower stations are implementing now,there is still encounter electricity shortage problems during the summer season for the country needs.Therefore,the optimum load with less water usage is the purpose of the hydropower plant in Myanmar.On the other sides,water turbine strength is the heart of the hydropower plant to get the targeted power generation.This dissertation relates to the optimization of Baluchaung(?)hydropower station considering the performance of the turbines and hydropower generation in Myanmar.The operation of water turbines is the major consideration in producing hydropower,and therefore,the author focuses on the design and performance of Pelton and Turgo turbines to withstand the design life for more longer.The design optimization of water turbines which also consider fatigue life cycles and short-term optimization of hydropower plant are main consideration of the thesis work purpose for supporting the Myanmar electric sector that mostly relies on the abundant hydropower resources.The main innovations achieved by the papers are aiming at predicting the life cycles of Pelton turbine for more power generation which estimates fatigue life with two designs of bucket:the simple original one and advanced hoop Pelton bucket by numerical approach using Solid works and ANSYS software.The results satisfy the design life of each bucket which get lesser stress,damage and fatigue life cycles in advanced hoop Pelton bucket.In addition,Optimizing the Turgo turbine design by changing the size flatter and estimate the overall efficiency to profit more in generation.In addition,the fatigue life is predicting using the static structural and ncode design life solver and the simulated gets design life is satisfied.Moreover,optimizing the power generation by minimizing water consumption effectively in order to get more revenue by using the three years data of Baluchaung ?hydropower station is the final innovation.The purpose of the optimal load dispatching unit which analyzes each optimal unit power by using the actual data of Baluchaung ?hydropower station is to approve that the optimal solutions give satisfactory results in flow and load distributions for better financial profits.
