The Yangtze River Delta is the region with the highest level of development for urban economy and port in China,and it has a long history of "the city thrives on the port,and the port is integrated with the city".As an important platform for China's opening up,participating in international competition and serving the construction of BRI,the Yangtze River Delta region is accelerating the integration process,and the deployment of high-quality integration of the Yangtze River Delta has been upgraded to a national strategy in 2018,aiming to promote higherlevel reform and opening up and become a growth pole and a model area for the national economy and integration.As two complex systems,urban agglomeration and port cluster are composed of several cities and ports respectively,and the development level of them are of great significance to the Yangtze River Delta high-quality integration,and the synergistic development between urban agglomeration and port cluster has become an important influencing factor of regional synergistic integration.Therefore,it is very important to study the level of interdependence and synergistic development of the Yangtze River Delta port cluster and urban agglomeration,and analyzing the dynamic correlation between the synergistic development and regional economic growth for promoting the industrial synergy and port and shipping integration of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration,and playing the leading position of the Yangtze River Delta in China's regional economic development and opening up.On the basis of analyzing and combing relevant literature,drawing on the theories related to systematics and regional integration,taking the urban agglomeration and port cluster of the Yangtze River Delta as the research objects,and taking the actual situation of the development of the urban agglomeration and port cluster of the Yangtze River Delta into account,this paper carries out the following work:The first chapter is the introduction of the dissertation.From the background of the study,by outlining the geographical location of the Yangtze River Delta,the history for the development of port and city integration and other environment factors,this study clarified the growth pole status that Yangtze River Delta high-quality integration plays in China's development,and discovered the problems in the development of high-quality urban agglomeration and port cluster in the integration process of the Yangtze River Delta,and proposed the significance of studying the synergistic development of the urban agglomeration and port cluster in Yangtze River Delta.Chapter 2 is the theoretical basis and literature review.By sorting out the theories related to symbiosis and synergy,it provides a theoretical basis for defining the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration and port cluster as a system;a literature review is conducted based on the related researches at home and abroad,which analyzed the gaps and shortcomings in the existing researches,and proposed the problems of this paper for later research.Chapter 3 presents the development status of the urban agglomeration and port cluster in Yangtze River Delta,and defines the research scope in this paper.The analysis of the economic development,industrial structure and spatial layout planning of the Yangtze River Delta region reveals that the Yangtze River Delta region is one of the best developed regions in China in terms of regional economy and port and maritime industry,and under the interactive development mode of "the city thrives on the port,and the port is integrated with the city",the synergistic and integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region is inseparable from the efficient synergy between the urban agglomeration and the port cluster.Chapter 4 is the analysis of the division of cities in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta port cluster.The relative gravity model and the economic evaluation index system of port hinterland are constructed to measure the economic indexes of the hinterland of each port in the Yangtze River Delta port cluster under the shared hinterland scenario,and it is found that the attraction level of each port in the Yangtze River Delta port cluster to the hinterland cities reflects the trend of high coastal,low inland,high large ports and low small ports in the whole Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration;the hinterland of large ports in the region is larger and has more scale economy;after the merger and development,the comprehensive strength of ports has been improved,and the combination of ports has changed from external competition to internal cooperation;the Yangtze River Delta region has a long history of " the city thrives on the port",and the direct hinterland of ports is the cities that ports located,and the basic situation of port-city integration remains unchanged.Chapter 5 analyzes the synergistic development of the Yangtze River Delta port cluster and urban agglomeration.The evaluation index system of the development quality of urban agglomeration and the development level of port cluster is constructed,and the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree models are used to measure the level of synergistic development of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration-port cluster complex system.The results show that there is a high level of interaction and synergistic development between urban agglomeration and port cluster in the Yangtze River Delta,and the sub-systems of port cluster and urban agglomeration have highly positive contribution to the complex system,but the development level and speed of port cluster and urban agglomeration are not synchronized.The level and speed of development are not synchronized,mainly because the excessive competition faced by ports after the rapid development of port decentralization has restricted the improvement of the overall level of port cluster,and the integration of port and shipping has not yet formed a unified layout,and the integration of ports and shipping in the Yangtze River Delta can change the development status of blind construction,disorderly competition and fragmentation of ports,and realize the synergistic cooperation,misaligned competition and orderly development among ports,so as to improve the level of development of port cluster by enhancing the integrated development level of port cluster and promoting the high-quality integrated development of Yangtze River Delta.Chapter 6 is the study on the dynamic correlation between the synergistic development of the Yangtze River Delta ports and cities and economic growth based on panel data.Based on the results of Chapters 4 and 5,a panel vector autoregressive(PVAR)model is constructed to verify the positive effect of synergistic development between ports and hinterland regions in the Yangtze River Delta region,which provides evidence for the existence of coupling relationship in the development level measurement of port cluster-urban agglomeration synergy integration in The Yangtze River Delta region in Chapter 5;the synergistic degree of ports and cities in the Yangtze River Delta region and regional economic growth are influenced by their own past development levels.There is a positive but not all significant two-way effect between port-city synergy and regional economic growth,indicating that improving the development level of ports in the Yangtze River Delta,promoting the integrated construction of ports and shipping in the Yangtze River Delta,and advancing the synergistic and integrated development of ports and cities in the Yangtze River Delta are important paths to achieve high-quality integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta.Chapter 7 summarizes the findings of the full paper and puts forward prospects for further research.Compared with the existing research results,the innovation of this paper is reflected in the following aspects:Firstly,innovation of research perspective.Based on the actual characteristics and demands of the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta,the research perspective is changed from a single port-city interaction to the synergistic development of port cluster and urban agglomeration.In this study,the Yangtze River Delta port cluster-urban agglomeration is considered as a complex system and analyzes the degree of influence and interaction between the urban agglomeration subsystem and the port cluster subsystem on the complex system,so as to provide theoretical reference for the high-quality integration of the Yangtze River Delta.Secondly,the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree model are introduced into the synergetic research of urban agglomeration and port cluster in the Yangtze River Delta,and a relatively comprehensive evaluation index system for the development of urban agglomeration and port cluster in the Yangtze River Delta is constructed,and the level of synergetic development of urban agglomeration and port cluster in the Yangtze River Delta is evaluated with a more intuitive quantitative index.Combined with the practical problems faced in the Yangtze river delta integration development,this study analysis and prove the validity of indicators,reflects the important role of the synergistic development of the urban agglomeration and port cluster for the high quality integration of the Yangtze River Delta,and is a practical reference for evaluating the level of high quality integration development of the Yangtze River Delta and solves the problems encountered in the development of the Yangtze River Delta high-level urban agglomeration and port cluster.Thirdly,the development direction of efficient synergy between the urban agglomeration and port cluster in Yangtze River Delta is proposed.By studying the interaction between portscities coordination level and regional economic development from the perspective of coordinated development of port cluster and urban agglomeration,the results show that improving the level of port development,promoting the integrated construction of ports and shipping,and advancing the integrated development of ports and cities are important paths to achieve high-quality integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta.
