| Dragon patterns are based on animist thoughts prevalent in Co-ne Tibetan-inhabited areas and influenced by the geographical environment, multi-cultures and religious forms there. Through a long-term mutual integration and evolution, they have become an artistic form with strong national and regional characteristics as well as connotations. This artistic form has not only accumulated and retained more primitive cultural features, but also absorbed and integrated more alien cultural elements. Therefore, it is viewed as an all-inclusive artistic form widely drawing upon the advantages of the others. Its expression form and spiritual connotations reveal the boundless charm of Co-ne Tibetan art. It not only serves as part of major contents in building the harmony between man and man, man and object as well as man and nature in Co-ne Tibetan society, but also embodies people’s spirits, ideals, values and aesthetic views in Co-ne Tibetan-inhabited areas. In recent years, the dragon pattern art has received extensive concerns from more and more scholars, and become vital historical materials for the researches on nature, history, politics and culture of Co-ne Tibetan-inhabited areas.On the basis of previous studies, by reviewing and analyzing the art of Tibetan Buddhism representation and image of graphics of Co-ne dragons in Tibetan areas, and by using anthropological theory and fieldwork methods, the author has looked into the Co-ne Tibetan dragons graphic distribution, the formation of the elements, artistic identity, cultural meanings and value of such issues. And through the above, the author has clearly put forward his research positions and views.The whole dissertation includes Introduction, five chapters, an appendix, and nearly one hundred color line drawing pictures. The author has generally given the overview of Chinese and foreign scholars’major achievements in research and research status. From the Co-ne Tibetan physical geography, religion, culture, customs and habits, key distribution of regional and graphic style, dragons graphic variation of the formation and development, dragons graphic characteristics and the spiritual content of art as well as deep philosophical and spiritual meaning containing in the dragon design graphics, the author has explored and studied the establishment of modern design concepts with Chinese characteristics and other aspects.Based on field research, through the analysis to the spiritual nature and cultural content of inherent in the Tibetan Co-ne dragons graphics, having avoided the phenomenon that in the past people only emphasized on research in the arts graphic characteristics and methods of expression and artistic. So the author has a systematic analysis of the Co-ne Tibetan dragons graphics thread to the development of cultural content and the in-depth understanding of the Tibetan people’s spiritual world and aesthetic intentions. Therefore the author has provided a new way of thinking for further research about Co-ne Tibetan arts and culture.Studies have shown that dragon design as graphic symbols; the stripes of dragons are different in different periods, which were affected by social and cultural aspects. External form of the diversity, complexity, not only embodies a kind of rooted in local culture and living environment and ongoing dialogue with the alien culture of integration and restructuring of cultural traditions, but also embodies the Co-ne the Tibetan people’s sentiment on real life, and their aspirations of a happy life and worship and adore of nature.Dragonish graphics are full of wise philosophy of life, emphasizing the moral concepts of good and evil, and the natural harmony belief systems, which has not only provided a new idea for the establishment of China’s modern art design and direction of its development model, but also the best fit point for the establishment of a Chinese national culture with characteristics of modern design system. Meanwhile, it also has important experiences and inspiration to the theory and practice of re-building today’s harmonious society of man and nature. |
