This Dissertation is a study upon the biography of great Mongolian lama scholar Lubsangtse,pel(1761—1834)-Rosary of White Lotus authored by the another Mongolian Lama Scholar Jamyangtubdennima(1779—1862)who is the third Dheri Khutugtu and the thirty Khambu of Labrang Monastery.This Dissertation consists of two parts.Part ? includes Introduction,Chapter one and Chapter Two.The Introduction introduces the previous studies on the Rosary of White Lotus and Lubsangtsempel,explains the significance of this study and research methods.Chapter One is a general study on the Rosary of white Lotus,which consists of Section ?,Section ?,Section ?,Section ?,and Section ?.Section ?introduces the Rosary of White Lotus and its author Jamyangtubdennima;Section? figure out the date by which Rosary of White Lotus was compiled through the analysis of the records in the end part of this Literature.Section ? talks about the sources of Rosary of White Lotus based on the comparative analysis between the record on some figures and events in this Literature and Lubsangtsempel's some important works.Through the comparative analysis,I figure out that the sources of the Rosary of white lotus are mainly from Lobsangtsempel's historical work History of Mongolian Buddhism(T.Chen po hor gyi yul du dam ba'i chos ji ltar byung ba'i tshul bshad pa rgmyal ba'i bstan pa rin po che gsal bar byed pa'i sgron me zhes bya ba bzhugs so),Biography of Agwangdongrob(T.dpal ldan bla ma dam pa rdo rje 'chang chen po ngag dbang don grub dpal bzang po'i zhal snga nas kyi rnah par thar pa legs bshad padma dkar po'i apreng ba zhes bya ba bzhugs so),Index of Sutra and Mantra series Buddhism-Continuous Stream of Amrita(T.mdo dang sngags pyogs kyi dam pa'i chos kyi thob yig bdud rdzi'i chu rgyun zhes bya ba bzhugs so),the Catalogue of Mthong ba don ldan Stupa settled in Chimed Monastery(T.'chi hed dgon pa bkra shis dar rgyas bshad sgrub gling na bzhugs pa'i by in rlabs 'od 'bar mchod rten mthong ba don Idan gyi dkar chag bzhugs so),and the materials collected by Lubsangtsempel's disciples and the author Jamyangtubdennima's personal experience as well;Section ? analysis the contents,structure and writing features of Rosary of White Lotus;with the examples,I point out the structures and writing features of Rosary of White Lotus are the combination of Prose style and rhyme style,historical style and literature's which are inherited from Ancient Indian and Tibetan biographical work's tradition;Section V discusses the academic value of Rosary of white Lotus.Rosary of white Lotus is not only a very important document for the study of the great Mongolian Lama scholar Lubsangtsempel,but also valuable for the study of the development of Tibetan Buddhism in eastern Mongolian area and Tibeto-Mongolian cultural relations.Chapter Two is a study of Lbusangtsempel based on Rosary of White Lotus.Firstly,I introduced Lonsangteempel's growing up experience according to the records in Rosary of White Lotus,and then discuss his contribution to the religious causes from three aspects,finally,analyze the relations between Lubsangtsempel and Tibetan reincarnation Lamas,and point out that is the miniature of Tibeto-Mongolian relations at that time.Part ? includes the Mongolian translation of the Rosary of White Lotus and more than two hundred notes on historical figures,places,events and religious terminology.The Appendix part attaches the chronology of Lubsangtsempel,the index of personal and place names in Rosary of White Lotus and some photocopies of original Tibetan text.
