From the perspective of cultural exchange, this paper aims to examine the overseas process of Japanese Ukiyo painting art and how to expand its influence to Europe and even the world after its mature development. On the one hand,it combs and studies the development process, historical background and driving factors of Ukiyo painting from a macro perspective;on the other hand,it puts the macro discussion into practice. In the history of Ukiyo painting,it selects the painter Kitagawa Utamaro as a case, and analyzes it from the perspective of his painting style, performance, reference and innovation, with a view to implementing the discussion under the macro perspective in specific paintings In the practice of teachers, more practical and detailed views are achieved.Through the research, the author believes that in the process of formation and development, the Ukiyo art mainly absorbed the subject matter of Chinese Tang Dynasty ladies' paintings, the technique of "Eighteen descriptions" of figure paintings, the technique of woodcut prints in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the perspective method from the West.In the process of export,it has a direct or indirect impact on the Western painters such as Van Gogh and MANET,as well as the formation of Impressionism, pop art and Dadaism. In the history of cultural and artistic exchange and reference,Ukiyo painting has played a very typical and successful role. Therefore, this study is not an "isolated" discussion to the Japanese painting art form of Kitagawa and Ukiyo, but from the perspective of cultural exchange,on the one hand,to investigate the overseas experience of Ukiyo,on the other hand,to investigate the formation of its overseas influence,as well as the contemporary value. It is closely related to both Chinese painting and Western painting to explore the cultural power behind art exchange, fusion and transformation through individual cases.
