This study will focus on the horse characteristics that affect the Mongolian art and culture.Mongolian horses have a deep connection with the Mongolian nation.No animal has a greater impact on the nomadic civilization and the historical process of nomadic culture in Mongolia than horses.Mongolia originated in the Mongolian Plateau of Central Asia.Since ancient times,it has lived on nomadic herd.Her history is actually a long,bumpy,glorious and tragic history of a nation on horseback.Horse is one of the domesticated animals of Mongolian nomads.After becoming a means of human transportation,horse greatly improved the migration ability of ancient nomads.Over time,nomads revered horses and turned them into totem worship.The Mongolian tradition of horse worship has influenced the nomadic people's beliefs,religion,culture,daily life,customs,nature,climate,geography,rock paintings,tombs,monuments and cultural relics since ancient times.Finally,it is inherited by language and characters,such as traditional folk art,fairy tales,folk games and so on.Therefore,they are the evidence of Mongolian People's worship of horses and totem for a long time.These rich materials have been studied in archaeology,ethnology,history,linguistics and literature.However,in many research directions,the research on the theory and principle of visual art is very rare.We try to explore this direction and fill in the gaps in this field.This paper compares and analyzes the description characteristics of horses in historical books of bronze age,and tries to explain the description method,origin and traditional characteristics of horses theoretically.We try to compare different styles of horse decoration according to saddle,horse bit,stirrup and horse brand,and analyze their composition,shape and symbolic meaning.In addition,this paper considers the essence of horse culture from the perspective of ethnology,and attempts to analyze an abstract model,which uses Mongolian pronunciation to express the color and shape of the horse,thus highlighting the Mongolian horse culture.Our research work includes five main parts.In the first part,we try to analyze the Bronze Age horse outline,horse accessories or harness.In the second part,we compare the depictions of horse and rider on the rock,and try to use the principles of plastic arts(such as movement,setting and proportion)to explain the definition of horse.The third part aims to analyze the influence of horse image in folk crafts.The fourth part discusses the role of horse in nomadic life and the cultural significance of myth,custom and game.The fifth part compares the definition of horse with other historical and cultural heritages,such as spreading the image of horse to future generations.Our research has expanded the scope of our art research to a certain extent.If the further research is based on the previous classification of geographical areas,its composition,meaning,content,symbolic meaning,abstract thinking and belief should be more scientific.
