White Horse Is Not Horse

White Horse General Legend is a folklore spreading in the Shuibin Village of Guanyin Township,Gongchen Yao County,Guilin City,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.In the legend,the White Horse General became a man from a horse,then became a god from a man.He protects the soil and gives peace to the people,has a great service to mankind.This paper is the study of the White Horse General legend in Shuibin Village.The author tried to find the reason behind the three seemingly contradictory image of White Horse General and the reason for their existence;so as to understand the Shuibin Yao people's inner and spiritual world,and analyze what "Self ' and "Other" act on the form and meaning of a ethnic group's culture and belief.This paper has mainly used anthropological analysis method,which can be divided into three parts:introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction part mainly introduces the reason,significance,domestic,research status and methods at home and abroad.The text part can be divided into four levels:The first level is field profile.To lead to the White Horse General through an incident in Qing Dynasty and introduce Shuibin Village,Gongcheng County and Guanyin Township's general situation;then raise the questions.The second level is the explanation of the image of the horse of the White Horse and the introduction of the Natural Worship of Shuibin Village.To analyze the influence of the Natural Worship tradition on the image of General White Horse.The third level is the interpretation of the image of mankind of the White Horse,and the analysis of the White Horse General's leader personality and "Stranger-King" image.To explore the "Self ' and "Other" in the Shuibin cycle.The fourth level is the image of the god of the White Horse.To see the the Yao people's belief system through the sacrifice ceremony in the White Horse General Temple,and analyze the ethnic psychology of the Yao people in Shuibin Village.The main point of the paper is that "White Horse is not horse.”This is,the White Horse General is not just a horse.The White Horse General's prototype is the Dragon Horse who carried the Hetu in Fuxi mythology.His image of the horse is influenced by the Natural Worship of Yao.His human dignity is the leader personality.For Shuibin,the White Horse General is the"Stranger-King".The sacrifice of the White Horse General becoming god reflects the pragmatism of Yao people in Shuibin,and it roots in the ambivalence that Yao people want to escape the rule but long for the mainstream orthodoxy.
