Politics For The Other ——Research On Derrida's Political Ethics

This dissertation makes a deep analysis on Derrida's deconstructed political philosophy from the perspective of political ethics,revealing the fundamental significance of ethics to Derrida's politics and expounding the ethical dimension of politics to the Other.The view of time and the Other in Derrida's Deconstruction lays the theoretical foundation and methodological logic for him to solve issues of political ethics.Due to the introduction of the differential time dimension,Derrida reveals the différance beyond the Ontology.Différance is directed to the unique Other and enters into the living world which brings into the context of différance.The access into the relationship with the unique Other means the coming of justice and responsibility together with the politics and ethics.Derrida's concept of political ethics includes two aspects: politics and ethics.Due to the indeterminacy of the Other,ethics and politics will be reflected in the experience of impossibility,and ethics of impossibility is the transcendence of the politics of possibility.Derrida has started a paradoxical experience in the spaces between possibility and impossibility: debt or non-debt gifts,possible or impossible forgiveness and conditional or unconditional hospitality.Such a relationship with the Other calls for an upcoming politics.Derrida establishes the upcoming politics based on the logic of future time to oppose the politics of Endism and the friend-enemy politics based on the logic of present time.The upcoming politics is not perfectly programmed politics but the politics about to come open to the Other.Due in part to relying on the law of the ethics of the Other the upcoming politics has a nature beyond politics which cannot be interpreted with the modern political rationality.The upcoming politics substituted the present politics such as the politics of Endism and the friend-enemy politics and left the trace of imminent politics.The politics for the Other is on the way of coming.It is the politics to accept endless puzzlement instead of seeking for the political eternity.Under this political ethics,human relations should keep the eye on the Other all the time.People cannot spare themselves from the Other and the misfortune of the Other also leaves trace on us.In spite of its own limits,Derrida's thought of political ethics still remains a good perspective to interpret modern political dilemma and crisis of human reality especially in the present times full of rapid change and constant conflicts on account of its significant influence on contemporary political philosophy.
