At the National Conference on Ideological and political work in Colleges and universities,General Secretary Xi once clearly pointed out that "the construction of textbook is an important support for educating people and talents.What kind of textbook system to build,what content the core textbook teach and what value to advocate,it reflects the will of the state and is a state power."."The implementation plan of national vocational education reform “and the establishment of the key research base of national vocational education textbooks highlight the importance of the construction of vocational education textbooks.Since its birth,the textbook has inevitably assumed the corresponding role and has a natural connection with teachers and students.So,what role should vocational education textbooks play? In practice,does the vocational education textbook really play its role? What are the factors affecting the role of vocational education textbooks? The answer to this series of questions is the key to give better play to the role of textbook and improve the quality of textbook construction.The research on the role of textbook in this study mainly includes two aspects:one is the expected role of vocational education textbook,that is,paying attention to the role expectation of various stakeholders on what function the textbook should play in school education;The second is the actual role of vocational education textbook,that is,how to play its actual role in the use of teachers and students in the real classroom field.The complexity and particularity of the role of vocational education textbook requires us not only to construct the expected role orientation of vocational education textbook in school education based on extensive educational research,but also to go deep into the real field of school,and analyze the actual role of vocational education textbook in detail from the perspective of teachers and students.On the basis of functionalism theory,educational function theory and vocational education curriculum theory,this study constructs the expected role framework of vocational education textbook.On this basis,this study designed a questionnaire for teachers and students in vocational school,in order to explore the actual role of vocational education textbook in a quantitative way,and conducted a one-to-one semi-structured interview with teachers,in order to deeply understand teachers' real views on the role of vocational education textbook.This study believes that the proper roles of vocational education textbook includes: ideological education,knowledge imparting,vocational ability training and teaching support.in particular:Textbook is not neutral material text.It more or less,intentionally or unintentionally reflect the culture of a certain group in the selection,presentation and organization of knowledge.By selecting and transmitting the so-called "legitimate knowledge" in a planned way,textbook weakens or ignores the non-mainstream culture,so that the individuals in the society gradually internalize the mainstream values advocated by the society and the common value norms,so as to realize the harmonious development of the society.Textbook study in the new era of our country,textbook should be the "legal" spokesman of socialist core values,and the selection and organization of the knowledge should be based on the transmission and construction of socialist value system,so as to give full play to the role of ideological education of textbook.From the whole process of textbook construction,the ideological education role of textbook can be brought into full play through three aspects: the basic provisions of national policy on textbook ideological education,the selection and organization of textbook knowledge and the way teachers use textbook.Second,vocational education textbook is the main medium of knowledge imparting.In the education of all countries in the world,it is undeniable that imparting knowledge is one of the most common and important educational objectives.As an important part of the curriculum,textbook is the material carrier to implement the educational objectives,which inevitably requires textbook to play an important role in imparting knowledge.One of the preconditions for vocational education textbook to play the important role of knowledge imparting is to classify knowledge reasonably.Different knowledge classifications contain different views on knowledge and education,and the selection and updating of textbook knowledge and the way teachers and students use textbook all involve the classification of knowledge without exception.Knowledge research in the field of vocational education is a relatively scarce and weak link.The neglect of technical knowledge research is one of the important factors leading to the tendency of knowledge-based vocational education.Technical knowledge is knowledge about how to act in the form of rules,both explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge,emphasizing the complementarity of rational knowledge and empirical knowledge,and its judgment standard is "effectiveness".The analysis of technical knowledge can be carried out at three levels:Know What,Know How,and Know Why.Technical knowledge can be further divided into three categories: descriptive technical knowledge,technical practical knowledge and technical theoretical knowledge.Only by establishing the development principle of vocational education textbook with technical knowledge as the core,can we really give full play to the role and function of textbook in imparting knowledge,continuously optimize the type and status of vocational education,and finally realize that vocational education has the same important status as general education.Third,vocational education textbook is the key carriers of vocational ability training.It is the proper meaning of vocational education textbook to play the role of vocational ability training.Cultivating students' professional ability is of great significance: the operation and development of society requires a competent workers;cultivating students' professional ability is an important factor in improving the country's economic competitiveness;cultivating students' professional ability is the key to promoting students' career success.In short,the cultivation of students' professional ability mainly includes the cultivation of practical skills and thinking training.Only when students are proficient in the operation skills required in the relevant positions or position groups for which this major is directed,can they successfully enter the workplace and complete the basic jobs.The development of students' future career should not only have basic operating skills,but also improve their thinking ability,find and successfully solve various complex problems encountered in the real post situation,which is not only the premise for individuals to become professionals,but also the basis for innovation in post practice.Based on this,this study believes that the development of textbook should clarify the specific operation steps required to complete a certain professional ability point,provide students with inquiry activities and develop thinking materials.Fourth,vocational education textbook is the scaffolding to provide teaching support.Textbook has long been seen as a major tool in the teaching process,and this role has been recognized by textbook developers in every country.Good vocational education textbook should be able to provide effective support for teachers' teaching and students' learning,which is also the key to realize the role of textbook in ideological education,knowledge imparting and ability training.The role of teaching support in teaching materials should be realized mainly through the following three aspects: learning guidance,stimulating students' interest in learning and evaluation of learning effects.Based on the expected role framework of vocational education textbook,this study designs a teacher questionnaire and student questionnaire,makes a quantitative analysis of the survey data by using SPSS software,and makes a one-to-one semi-structured interview with teachers of vocational schools.The data analysis shows that: 1.The recognition index of teachers and students for the actual role of vocational education textbook is generally high.Specifically,the recognition index of teachers for the supporting role of textbook is the highest,which is mainly because in the process of using traditional textbook,textbook is more regarded as teaching tools,which is also the embodiment of the traditional role function of textbook;2.The recognition index of teachers and students for the role of textbook in ability training is relatively low,especially for the role of textbook in thinking training;3.The recognition index of teachers for the organizational role of textbook knowledge is relatively low.The traditional vocational education textbook with knowledge as the logical organization are generally criticized by teachers in practice;4.On the whole,different types of samples will have different effects on the actual role of textbook.Among them,the samples of teachers teaching different types of courses have a greater impact on the actual role of teaching materials,while the samples of students of different gender,provinces,cities and school types have a greater impact on the actual role of teaching materials.Vocational education textbook is an important part of vocational education system.Due to the intermediary nature of connecting curriculum and teaching and the complexity of its content structure,its role will be affected by a variety of internal and external factors.This study mainly discusses which factors affect the role of textbook from the two dimensions of external factors and internal factors.The external factors that affect the role of textbook mainly include the functional orientation of vocational education,teachers and students' views on textbook,and teachers' ways of using textbook.The internal factors of the textbook will directly affect the quality of the textbook itself,thus directly restricting the role of the textbook in the teaching process.The internal influencing factors of textbooks mainly include the selection of textbook content and the structure of textbook content.In-depth analysis of the internal and external factors affecting the role of textbook is of great significance to better play the role of textbook and improve the quality of textbook.In a word,the study of the role of vocational education textbook is of great significance to improve the quality of textbook development and optimize the way of teachers and students in vocational schools to understand and use textbook.Compared with previous studies on vocational education textbook,this study has some innovations in research methods,perspectives and viewpoints,and has certain reference significance for theoretical research and textbook development practice.
