Innovation is an important driving force for economic development and has a positive effect on promoting total factor productivity.The realization of innovation drive in a region depends on the construction and optimization of the regional innovation ecosystem,which requires to form a complex adaptation system with element correlation,multiple interactions and coordinated development in the region.In practice,the implementation of demand-oriented and problem-oriented innovation will help strengthen independent innovation capabilities and solve the "stuck neck" problem.This has formed objective requirements for the construction of a regional innovation ecosystem with benign interaction and coordinated development on both sides of supply and demand of innovation.More and more scholars have begun to pay attention to the role of innovation ecosystems in economic development and innovation performance.Some scholars have also paid attention to the synergy of supply and demand sides of innovation ecosystems at the industry and enterprise levels and its relationship with total factor productivity.While there is a lack of relevant research on how the synergy of supply side and demand side of the innovation ecosystem can promote the increase of total factor productivity at a level.But in practice,the region is an important level linking the macro and micro levels.It has important theoretical and practical significance to study how the synergy of supply side and demand side of the regional innovation ecosystem affects total factor productivity.This paper is based on the theory of innovation system,the "five helix" innovation-driven paradigm,Marxist supply and demand theory and other related theories,using logic deduction,coupling coordination model,panel data model and other methods,regarding the core issue of "The impact of supply side and demand side synergy of regional innovation ecosystem on total factor productivity and its mechanism ".Based on an in-depth analysis of the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystems,this paper also studied the promoting mechanism of total factor productivity by synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem,and explored the adjustment factors that can make the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem affecting total factor productivity better further.The main research work and results of this article are as follows:(1)This paper conducts a theoretical study on the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem,and constructs a system supply side and demand side synergy index.Based on the elements of regional innovation ecosystem and thier functional characteristics,this paper constructed a two-layer synergy of supple side and demand side,including the synergy of innovation demand subsystem and innovation supply subsystem and the synergy of elements level.Further,from the perspective of element synergy and system synergy,it is pointed out that synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem includes two key synergies,namely,the synergy of supply side and demand side between the innovation demand subsystem and the innovation supply subsystem,and the synergy of supply side and demand side of industry-university-research in the innovation supply subsystem.On this basis,the regional innovation ecosystem supply side and demand side synergy index was constructed further,and the system supply and demand side synergy index of 30 provinces and cities in China was measured from2009 to 2018.It is found that there is still much room for improvement the level of synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem in each province,and the two sides of supply side and demand side generally show a non-co-evolution trend.(2)This article comprehensively explains the influence mechanism of the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem on total factor productivity.Based on the two key relationships involved in synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem,the effect of the synergy of the supply and demand of the regional innovation ecosystem on the total factor productivity is further analyzed,and technological progress,industrial structure adjustment and innovation factor allocation are used as transmission mediators to reveal synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem affects the path of total factor productivity.It provides a theoretical basis for studying the relationship between the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem and total factor productivity.(3)Taking China as the research object,this paper empirically tests the direct and indirect effects of the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem on total factor productivity.The study found that the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem has a positive effect on promoting total factor productivity.However,in regions with different geographic locations,different resource endowment levels,and regions with different total factor productivity levels,the effects of the relationship between synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem and total factor productivity show regional heterogeneity.The effect path test results show that during the study period,the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem can promote the increase of total factor productivity through technological progress and industrial structure adjustment.In terms of optimizing the allocation of innovative factors,it can only promote the increase of total factor productivity by optimizing the allocation of innovative talents,while cannot promote the increase of total factor productivity by optimizing the allocation of innovative capital.(4)This paper also studies the factors which can adjust the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem to promote the increase of total factor productivity.By clarifying the focus of attention on both sides of innovation supply and demand,this article selected three aspects as the main factors,namely,different innovation approaches(independent research and development and technology introduction),different research types(basic research and applied research),and different industrial development(manufacturing and producer services).Based on the analysis of their role in regulating the synergy of supply side and demand side of the regional innovation ecosystem to promote of total factor productivity,this paper constructs an adjustable mediating effect model is constructed for testing.The results found that independent research and development in different innovation pathways can enhance the role of the synergy of supply side and demand side of the regional innovation ecosystem in improving total factor productivity.Both basic research and applied research in different research types can strengthen the role of the synergy of supply side and demand side of the regional innovation ecosystem in promoting total factor productivity.In the development of different industries,only the development of the producer service industry can enhance the direct effect of the synergy of supply and demand of the regional innovation ecosystem on the total factor productivity.In addition,different innovation approaches,research types and industrial development in the synergy of supply side and demand side of the regional innovation ecosystem have strengthened the role of the three action paths,which will also help promote the improvement of total factor productivity.The main innovations of this paper are as follows: This paper divides the regional innovation ecosystem into a regional innovation demand subsystem and a regional innovation supply subsystem,and clarifies the main content of each subsystem from the perspective of element association and synergy,which can provide a new perspective for studying the composition of the regional innovation ecosystem.This paper analyzes the direct influence mechanism and indirect influence mechanism of the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem on total factor productivity,and made up for the lack of research on the relationship between regional innovation ecosystem and total factor productivity.This paper also uses panel data from 30 provinces and cities in China to verify the relationship between the synergy of supply side and demand side of regional innovation ecosystem and total factor productivity from two dimensions of the country as a whole and heterogeneous regions.
