China has the potential to evolve from being an innovative sponge absorbing and adopting global technologies and knowledge into being an innovative leader. As the largest population and the second-largest GDP,China could be transformed into a viable innovation’ source in order to serve the needs of an enormous and increasingly demanding customer market.Alongside the initiative announced in 2013 ’.The One Belt,One Road’ OBOR,or The Belt and Road that aims at building the "Silk Road economic belt" with countries in Central,West, and South-East Asia countries. In addition to involving other countries in Africa and Europe. The indication was that the establishment of this initiative would open new emergent markets to transfer Chinese innovation. However, previous research found that China is not performing well in all types of innovation,as she is still facing major challenges in scientific discovery and engineering.Furthermore, there are certain types of innovations in which China performance a better record than other types. This study is the first to investigate, based on a knowledge approach, what are the factors that affect different archetypes of innovation, specifically, for the OBOR regions. It takes into consideration a larger set of variables including, economic, cultural, societal, and environmental aspects. The research studies the concept of innovation, innovation ecosystems, and investigates the factors affecting them based on their interrelationships concerning different innovation archetypes. The study focused period after announcing on the Belt and Road Initiative there will be a strong potential to create a super-extended ecosystem that has the potential to propel China’s cutting-edge innovative prowess to hitherto unattained levels. The methodology is based on using multivariate statistical analysis of the intercorrelations among a number of variables that led to extracting a reduced set of new significant factors that affect China’s innovation ecosystem. These extracted factors were appraised, interpreted;with relative to different archetypes of innovation leading a conceptual framework of knowledge model that assists policymakers to determine the factors affecting innovation transfer to the OBOR region. The results showed that innovation archetypes differ significantly with respect to the majority of the new factors. The study is the first to fill the gap of addressing a large number of variables affecting innovation and analyzing their interrelationships.Hence, the research contribution to knowledge is based on three aspects:the theoretical aspect where factors affecting innovation would be extracted through investigating a pattern of relationships among a large set of variables than what it was originally studied taking into consideration different archetypes of innovation:BreakthroughDriven,Efficiency-Driven,and Customer-Driven innovation.Second:The contextual aspect:The research’s scope is first to study the innovation ecosystem after issuing the OBOR initiative and the policies that are related to as well as investigating the dissemination of Chinese innovation across the OBOR region.Proposing the first model of managing China-OBOR ecosystem taking into consideration on innovation archetypes and economic and regional development across the OBOR countries.Third the technological aspect:Where the proposed model can be used to develop a taxonomy based on the extracted dimensions. This can be fully automated and computerized, where the AI method was used to train a set of data entry and test it in order to classify any new entries.Through identifying these challenges,decision-makers can develop a better understanding of the variables affecting each archetype of innovation, and act accordingly. The implications of this research may help researchers, policy and decision-makers,and experts in the field of technological innovation.
