During the 14 th Five Year Plan period, with the acceleration of a new round of technological and industrial revolution and China's economic development entering the key stage of high-quality transformation, the importance of high-tech start-ups has been further highlighted. As the main body of innovation and entrepreneurship activities and the micro-foundation of high-quality economic development,high-tech start-ups have played an important role in promoting China's overall economic development and scientific and technological progress. However, due to the intensification of international trade disputes, the continuous turmoil in the world political landscape and the continuous ups and downs of COVID-19,the market competition environment faced by high-tech start-ups has become increasingly complex. This environmental turbulence magnifies the vulnerability of newborn and resource disadvantages of high-tech start-ups,which seriously affect the innovation and entrepreneurship activities of enterprises. How to help high-tech start-ups gain advantages in the fierce market competition and improve innovation performance has urgent practical significance.Building network ties has become a key way for new ventures to overcome the disadvantage of newborn and obtain external resources. For highly resource-dependent and sensitive high-tech start-ups,it is even more necessary to use network ties to obtain heterogeneous resources that support corporate innovation activities,so as to promote corporate innovation and development. However, the existing research has not fully opened the black box of the relationship between network ties and innovation performance. What types of network ties are included in new ventures? How and are there differences in the mechanism of different types of network ties on innovation performance? What is the specific path of network ties to enterprise innovation performance? These questions are still not well answered, and it is difficult to provide valuable guidance for the innovation practice of high-tech startups.Based on this, this dissertation cites social network theory, inter organizational relationship theory, contingency theory, comprehensive use of literature research, exploratory case study, factor analysis, structural equation model, regression analysis and other methods, based on the actual situation of China's high-tech start-ups,to explore the impact mechanism of network ties on the innovation behavior and innovation performance of high-tech start-ups.The research conclusion not only contributes to the related research on enterprise innovation network, but also provides reference for promoting the innovation and development of new high-tech start-ups,which has rich theoretical value and practical significance. The main work and conclusions of this dissertation are as follows:First, redefine the connotation and type of network ties based on the scenario of hightech startups. This dissertation adopts the method of exploratory case study to conduct indepth research on four typical high-tech start-ups.Through semi-structured interviews and second-hand data collection, based on the principle of item-by-item replication based on multi-case analysis, the network ties of high-tech startups are divided into three types:business ties, political ties, and knowledge ties. And based on exploratory case analysis,it discusses the mechanism of network ties on innovation behavior and innovation performance, and puts forward relevant research propositions.Second, explore the mechanism of network ties on innovation behavior and innovation performance of high-tech start-ups.Using the method of PLS-SEM,this dissertation analyzes the mechanism of the network ties of high-tech start-ups on innovation behavior and innovation performance. The research results show that business ties and knowledge ties significantly and positively affect innovation performance.Political ties has no direct impact on innovation performance improvement, but indirectly affects innovation performance by affecting business ties and knowledge ties.In addition, business ties, political ties, and knowledge ties all have significant positive effects on exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation.Further mediation analysis found that exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation played a mediating role between network ties and innovation performance.Third, integrate the internal and external factors of the enterprise, and study the moderating effect of the internal absorptive capacity and the external environment dynamics on the model of "network ties-innovative behavior-innovation performance".The innovation performance of high-tech start-ups is affected by a variety of internal and external factors. In order to improve the research model, this dissertation explores the moderating role of absorptive capacity and environmental dynamics. It is found that absorptive capacity significantly positively moderates the relationship between business ties, knowledge ties and innovation performance, and significantly positively moderates the relationship between political ties, knowledge ties and exploratory innovation and utilization innovation;Environmental dynamics significantly positively moderates the relationship between business ties, knowledge ties and innovation performance, significantly positively moderates the relationship between exploratory innovation and innovation performance, and significantly negatively moderates the relationship between utilization innovation and innovation performance.Based on the research results, this dissertation enriches the related research on network ties, provides new research ideas and practical evidence for opening the black box between network ties and innovation performance, and expands the application scenarios of social network theory and inter-organizational relationship theory. And enriched case studies of enterprise innovation networks.
