In recent years the construction of structural components of bridges such as beam-column joints, cap beams, and columns had great promotions. Many experimental projects have been applied to achieve and predict the reliable reactions of bridge details against seismic loadings. But few investigations have been done dynamically to simulate genuine earthquakes.Seismic performance of joint and structure in V-shaped bridge bents was under investigation in this thesis.Primarily, concentrate on expanding actions within joints and columns of each specimen and the related horizontal capabilities of columns and their joints. Two specimens with different column aspect ratios have been built.Pier 1 is a tall specimen with a column aspect ratio of 4.67,and pier 2 with a column aspect ratio of3.The test procedures are done by the Quasi-static method. The loading series were performed with raising amplitudes and force and displacement. All deformations, rebar strains, and mass accelerations were recorded during shaking. The two specimens behaved strongly and resisted high levels after receiving high ductility levels, even though the regions that received the most damage during the experiment were the central thick cap beam of the specimen, and joints didn’t experience significant cracks. This thesis focuses on the performance of specimen joints and their influence on the overall specimen behavior.Test results can compare with some analytical and numerical data to attain the most valid and reliable method to predict the behavior of beam-column joints in V-shaped or two-column bents.Numerically and experimentally, results show that the shear distribution between the columns makes the column under compression more vulnerable to shear degradation.
