Currently in the country, special-shaped column structure in the residential areas has been applied generally. As the population increases, the improvement of level of people’s lives, the real estate industry’s continued popular, housing problems become the focus of people’s minds, the increasingly diverse needs of people living not only want to have a large area of use, and would like to get more the use of a high clearance. Due to the increase in the height of the small high-rise structures, in order to ensure that the provisions of the sway requirements, the layer lateral stiffness also must increase, while the structure requires corresponding seismic capacity. So, in order to improve the structural rigidity and reduce axial compression ratio, the members of increasing column limb-section of special-shaped reinforced concrete columns come into being, This paper is based on the L shaped column as an example, their limb width to limb thickness ratio is within4to5.Currently, the kind of small high-rise residential special-shaped columns structural system of small high-rise residential buildings has been built to use in some places, its applicability has been confirmed, the seismic performance needs further research. Therefore.this paper mainly carries out the following work:(1) In this paper, after selects a suitable numerical model and constitutive relation, L shaped column section members with equal or unequal limb carry out the elastic finite element analysis respectively through the application of finite element software SAP2000Version15.1.0, in accordance with each member section’s normal strain changes under the influence of the different height to width ratio and limb width to limb thickness ratio in the contour graphics, has discussed the factors that affect the deformation characteristics of special-shaped column member, and briefly analysised the stress deformation characteristics of L shaped column section members with equal or unequal limb. The results show that the main factors for the deformation characteristics of wide limb L shaped columns is height to width ratio. When small high-rise structure with wide limb special-shaped columns storey height is2.8~3.2m, its deformation of the frame column is mainly shear deformation or bending shear deformation.(2) To undertake the analysis of the former part of the content and according to the current seismic code and technical regulations, modeling and designing two regular reinforced concrete special-shaped columns frame model structures under the reasonable deformation form, investigating structure respectively in fortification intensity of7,8degrees, selecting the appropriate seismic waves input for seismic design and carrying out unidirectional horizontal seismic nonlinear3D seismic response analysis under the different fortification and rare earthquake level forms in different angles to investigate the seismic performance of the overall reaction, and to preliminary evaluate if regular special-shaped columns frame structure designing according to the code in different levels can reach the seismic fortification goal, and then analysis the L-shaped column’s deformation characteristics in angle position of overall structure under the premise of satisfying level requirements, and through the bending moment-angle hysteretic curve describing the energy consumption condition.
