The greatest influence of calligraphy in the Qing Dynasty on the history of calligraphy was the establishment of the theory of "stele study".The theory of "stele learning" was summed up on the basis of the”seal and clerical script resurgence"in the Qing Dynasty.Due to the change in the style of study in the Qing Dynasty, scholars began to turn their research objects to the inscriptions of inscriptions and stones.Although this kind of search, visit and description of new materials was aimed at the confirmation of classics and history, from the textual research in the early Qing with the intervention of epigraphy, classics, philology, exegesis, and phonology during the Qian-Jia period, the academic research and description of epigraphy has achieved unprecedented prosperity.Among the new materials for academic research,Han Steles,as the first object of attention in the textual research of the Qing Dynasty, under the guidance of scholars’ research and sorting, not only pay attention to the content of the text to supplement the history of the classics, but also some scholars begin to pay attention to the style and the origin of the brushwork in the text and calligraphy. With the participation of scholars, the development of clerical script in various eras has been systematically sorted out,and the interaction between scholars and calligraphers has promoted the research of clerical script and the display of artistic style.Until the Qian-Jia School focused on the study of classics, intervened in the theory of calligraphy with the method of scholarship.Scholars and calligraphers continued to visit the steles, and on the basis of the excavation of a large number of new materials, they also studied, sorted out and wrote the clerical script materials at that time, which provided an academic foundation for the development of official script, which was unmatched by other dynasties. It can be said that the academic enlightenment of the Qing Dynasty came from the Han steles, and the breaking of the traditional thinking of calligraphy also came from the official script. The emergence of new materials is bound to produce different representations of concepts and methods. The Qian-jia period was the budding period of academic prosperity and the revival of seal and clerical script.Under the impact of new materials and concepts, how to choose these materials to excavate the inheritance of ancient methods is an important topic.By combining the concept and practice of clerical script of scholars and calligraphers of this period, this paper sorts out the development of clerical script, and summarizes the important characteristics and internal factors of this period. The thesis is mainly divided into two parts: the main body and the appendix. The main text summarizes the background of the development of the official script from the birth of the official script to the Qian-jia period, and analyzes the acceptance and artistic performance of the calligraphers of the past dynasties after the birth of the official script.Scholars of the Qianjia School, guided by academics, played an exemplary role in the new concepts and new aesthetic orientations of clerical script learning, and formed new concepts and new aesthetic orientations in calligraphy.Calligraphers have different practices for clerical script under the advocacy of individuality.Although the artistic expressions are different, they are all explored under the guidance of the calligraphy concept of the Qian-jia school. While reversing the accumulated habits, they actively learn from the latest academic achievements. This influence is extremely important.Relevant studies mostly focus on the artistic expression of the calligraphers and seldom are involved in this, which is the focus of this topic. In the late Qing Dynasty, the formation of the concept of "the tablet study" was developed under the concept of scholars of the Qian-jia school and reference the inscription of the Bei.Under the influence of the tablet study movement, different groups of calligraphers began to integrate the inscription of the Bei into the creation of official script, but the mainstream is still the group of scholars under the concept of official script of the Qian-jia school, which further affirms the important model of the scholars of the Qian-jia school for the development of official script leading role.In the process of research, this paper takes the development of time as the main line, and repositions the development of clerical script in the Qian-Jia period by classifying the group of calligraphers by genre, region, viewpoint, etc.,and points out the exemplary significance of the concept of Qian-jia school to the development of clerical script. The research takes the works as the fundamental basis, and re-evaluates and locates the objects through the real expression of the styles of the works in different periods,in order to provide reference for the development of contemporary official script. The appendix of the thesis includes "Compilation of Works Heirlooms from Official Script Writers of the Qing Dynasty","The Compilation of Side Inscriptions in Qing Dynasty Official Script" and the records of stele inscriptions contained in Japan’s "History of Posts”.Also arranges the spread of works of clerical calligraphers in the Qing Dynasty.
