Counterpoint is one of important compositional techniques in western music.On this basis,western music has developed multi-layer and stereo sound building with a complex network.The counterpoint theory is exactly the theoretical summary of this technique.The contrapuntal mindset in performance put forward by this paper refers to the identification capability and handling method that a player should be equipped with when facing contrapuntal elements in re-creation.The contrapuntal mindset in performance and the counterpoint theory for composition used to be an unity.However,with the division of composition and performance,rational factors in performance are gradually giving way to emotional ones on the surface.It is the need for high quality re-creation to restore rational factors in performance.Emphasizing the importance of contrapuntal mindset in performance,the paper makes specific and systematic attempts to balance emotional and rational factors in musical performance.As one of keyboard instruments,piano plays a crucial role in western music,thanks to its high efficiency in the expression of contrapuntal mindset.Piano is the most popular keyboard instrument,because it can play not only purely polyphonic contrapuntal elements but also those characterized by thematic texture.Therefore,contrapuntal elements in western piano works are amazing in quantity,form and complexity.However,with the complexity of texture and playing method,the teaching of piano performance pays more attention to body skills or sound effects.It is key and difficult points how to explain relations among complex sounds in piano works,how to establish the organic relation between lines and textures,and how to break the barrier between the counterpoint theory and piano performance.The contrapuntal mindset in piano performance has always been valued by excellent musicians.Since Bach,a majority of composers,performers and educators have attached importance to the mindset in performance.However,there are few thematic discussions.Although some scholars and performers have made excellent discussions on details,they often stay on works in a specific style or period,and do not form a systematic discussion.However,in the aspect of compositional theory,there are many studies on the composition and analysis of counterpoint theory,but few discussions are related to specific performance.The paper tries to break the barrier between the teaching experience of piano performance and the counterpoint theory,and conducts a comprehensive analysis from the perspectives of monophonic,two-part,and generalized contrapuntal mindsets in performance to correspond contrapuntal elements to specific performance skills and handling techniques.Meanwhile,the study will provide a comprehensive,detailed and novel theoretical framework for piano teaching.In addition,taking the development track of contrapuntal mindset as the axis,it will also reinterpret the development history of piano teaching and discuss the cultivation of all-round talents in piano performance.The thematic research of contrapuntal mindset in performance will compensate for the deficiency of literature on Chinese piano teaching methods,which is at the forefront of global piano teaching research.The combination of theory and practice is the basic spirit abode by the paper.Although the research of music theory in China has approached to the world advanced level,those in the direction of theory guiding practice in performance are lack of innovation and breakthrough.Given that interdisciplinary research is the standpoint of "new liberal arts" construction in China’s higher education,the paper tries to provide reference for the further study on the direction that musical theories guide practice in performance through the interdisciplinary exploration. |
