Max·W·Camp (1935-1996), a famous piano educationist from American, was one of the representatives of "psychological school" of piano pedagogy and theoretical research in the late20th century, his teaching philosophy and method mainly concentrated on Developing Piano Performance:A Teaching Philosophy and Teaching Piano two important piano pedagogy works. His piano pedagogy open up the late20century’s new area of piano teaching, which aimed at the integrated coordination of mind, ear, body and heart. He not only put forward an idea, that we should play piano through combining inner auditory imagination and basic rhythm, in theory, but also established a whole set of training system, which pioneered a new path for the popularity of piano teaching.The present study was composed of five parts to explain the piano teaching philosophy and method of Max·W·Camp. In the part of introduction, we explained the value, research ideas and methods of this study. Meanwhile, we also described the history of piano teaching and the effect of piano teaching history on the Max·W·Camp. Chapter one focused on the teaching philosophy of Max·W·Camp from five respects. In general, we started from the holistic teaching philosophy, then felt the rhythm of music through controlling inner auditory to reach the integrated coordination of brain, ears, body and mind. In chapter two, we would describe the teaching method of Max·W·Camp from three aspects, including the control of hearing, rhythm and technique, to clarify the relationship between these six stages involved in the progressive layers of the teaching process. In chapter three, we would analysed the historical origins between Max·W·Camp teaching philosophy and the music psychology through investigating the "holistic view" of Gestalt,"music growth" of Mursellã€"intelligence development" of Piaget and the learning theory of Bruner. In chapter four, we focused on the peculiarity and historical value of Max·W·Camp teaching philosophy.This study used document summary, theory analysis, the description method, inductive method, comparative research, combined with the theoretical knowledge of pnllsopny of music and psychology, to analyse the teaching philosophy and method of Max·W·Camp deeply. In the end, we hope this study can make a help for the development of Chinese piano teaching. |
