| Wang Fuzhi,as one of the three great thinkers in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,undertook the duty of upholding and promoting Chinese culture,established a view of Chinese culture that inherited the Confucian tradition with distinct characteristics of the times,and made remarkable contributions to the inheritance and development of Chinese culture.Wang Fuzhi’s view of Chinese culture,as one of the most innovative views of Chinese culture,not only has a high recognition of Chinese culture and cultural confidence,but also is full of the spirit of constant updating and innovation of Chinese culture.Chinese nation is the main body of Chinese culture creation.In the long course of historical development,the Chinese nation has created a splendid Chinese culture.Confucianism is the mainstay of Chinese culture.Meanwhile,Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism complement each other.The essence of Chinese culture is the ethical thought and spirit passed down from generation to generation.and the core of Chinese culture is ethics.Under the background of regime change and ethnic integration at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty,Wang Fuzhi embraced Liu Yueshi’s idea and pursued Zhang Hengqu’s neo-Confucianism learning.His thinking on Chinese culture ran through a distinct problem consciousness: What is the way of orthodoxy? What is governance? What is China ’ s Huaxia? Therefore,this paper discusses Wang Fuzhi’s view of Chinese culture from three perspectives: the Confucian orthodoxy,political ethics view,and the yi-xia cultural view.In terms of orthodoxy view,Wang Fuzhi discusses the ontology of “qi as the basis of principle” as well as ontology of combination of “orthodoxy and qi” and delves into the form basis of Confucian Tao.Starting from the relationship between knowledge and action,it deepens the understanding of Confucian "Tao".The core viewpoints are"the combination of reason and desire","the unity of justice and benefit" together with"valuing public over private",enriching the value connotation of Confucian "Tao".In terms of political ethics,Wang Fuzhi deepens his understanding of the legitimacy of power in the process of rethinking governance and reconstructing orthodoxy,and proposes the governance view of complementing the proprieties with punishment and the people’s view of people’s nature,demonstrating his political ideals of focusing on the sufferings of people’s livelihood and pursuing benevolent governance and moral governance.In terms of views yi-xia view,Wang Fuzhi exmaines the "differentiation of yi-xia" from a cultural perspective,holds that "rites can distinguish Yi",clearly proposes the view of "major prevention of yi-xia",and advocates that yi-xia should be "separated in their own places" and categoried".On the one hand,Wang Fuzhi’s view of yi-xia culture is of strong ethnic emotion.On the other hand,it contains the ideological factor of peaceful coexistence between Hua and Yi,which reflects Wang Fuzhi’s confusion and entanglement between "resisting Yi" and "not invading others" under the background of ethnic integration.Wang Fuzhi’s view of Chinese culture is the essence of the Chinese nation’s value orientation and spiritual pursuit,which embodies the patriotic feelings of justice first,the cultural confidence of national rejuvenation,the responsibility of carrying justice and the innovative consciousness of innovation.His view of Chinese culture has not only aroused the ideological enlightenment and ethnic unity in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,but also significantly affected resistance to foreign aggression and opposing of aggression.However,his view of Chinese culture has the limitation of cognition and history.In the view of yi-xia culture,there is the tendency of Han chauanism and the cultural prejudice against the ethnic minority groups.He fails to realize that great unification is an important tradition of Chinese culture and that great ethnic integration is an objective historical process.At the same time,he could not realize that Chinese culture is not the ideological creation of any ethnic group,but the co-creation of all ethnic groups,including the barbarians in history,and the Chinese nation is the main body of Chinese culture.Nowadays,Wang Fuzhi’s view of Chinese culture is still crucial for continuing the Chinese cultural tradition and constructing a common spiritual home for all ethnic groups: The first is to adhere to the stand of Chinese culture and uphold the subjectivity of Chinese culture.The second is to carry forward the way of Chinese culture and deepen the recognition of fine traditional Chinese culture.The third is to cultivate the feelings of home and country and promote patriotism in the new era. |
