Chinese traditional culture is the spiritual wealth accumulated by the Chinese people over the five-thousand-year course of history.The profound ideas and connotations embodied in Chinese traditional culture have significant practical significance in promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.At present,the need to cultivate and shape a number of original IPs with distinctive Chinese cultural characteristics,strengthen IP development and transformation,and fully utilize industries such as animation,games,online literature,and online music to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of China’s excellent traditional culture have become central to the development of the cultural industries.The integration and development of traditional Chinese culture and the digital culture industry have injected new vitality into the dissemination and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture in contemporary times,laying a solid cultural foundation.China’s video game industry has gone through four historical stages,from the incubation period to the start-up period,then to the calm period and finally to the explosive period since its development in 1991.In the new era,China’s video game industry has achieved rapid development in both production volume and value,market share and economic benefits,gradually becoming an important driving force for stable growth in China’s digital culture industry.Nowadays,the integration of the Chinese video game industry with traditional Chinese cultural elements is mainly reflected in the construction of game scenes of ancient architecture and idyllic landscapes,the mimetic restoration of ancient historical events and the interaction of traditional folklore and traditional music.The Chinese traditional culture has become the spiritual core of China’s video game industry with the universal values of people-orientedness,the harmony concept of the unity of man and nature,the national spirit of selfimprovement,and the patriotism of building a prosperous and peaceful country through self-cultivation.Through research on the integration of traditional Chinese cultural elements and video game products in China,it has been discovered that the combination of traditional Chinese cultural elements and the video game industry has not only helped the production and dissemination of video game in terms of cultural inheritance,cultural linkage,and cultural exports but also formed a new round of content production matrix and industrial pattern.Furthermore,it has broadened the dissemination channels of traditional Chinese culture,optimized the spiritual education of traditional Chinese culture,and further highlighted the important value of traditional Chinese culture in shaping the correct values and life views of young people in the new era,cultivating qualified socialist successors and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.However,behind this new landscape and new ecosystem,the fusion of Chinese traditional cultural elements and the video game industry also presents new problems and challenges.The most prominent issue is the deficiencies of video game products related to Chinese traditional culture in three areas: game development,market competition,and brand promotion.Specifically,the integration of Chinese traditional cultural elements with video game lacks a broad enough perspective;the branding strategy is outdated,and there is room for improvement in product reputation and user loyalty.The market is flooded with homogenized gaming products,and innovative traditional cultural gaming products with core competitiveness relatively scarce.In addition,the lack of new blood in China’s video game industry has resulted in a market facing the dilemma between cultural public welfare and commercialism,leaving room for improvement in the market innovation of traditional cultural gaming products.Meanwhile,the public’s stereotype of China’s video game industry has further weakened the positive cultural image expected to be established by traditional cultural gaming products,making their situation even more challenging.In view of that,to achieve a seamless integration of traditional Chinese culture and China’s video game industry,we need to delve deeper into the video game industry chain.By following a multi-level integration framework that takes into account culture,market,technology,and users,we can effectively fuse these two seemingly disparate worlds together.The first step towards achieving this is by incorporating Chinese traditional cultural elements into game software and hardware.Secondly,we must leverage the influence of video game enterprises to release and distribute games,using Chinese traditional cultural elements to promote the cultural output of the video game industry.Furthermore,it is crucial to ensure that the video game industry preserves Chinese traditional culture while empowering game operations with traditional elements.Game media should also constantly interpret the charm of Chinese traditional culture and promote its interaction with game audiences.Lastly,governments at all levels should support this organic integration of Chinese traditional culture and the video game industry from a macro perspective.This can be achieved through policy implementation and funding support that inspires video game enterprises to create games that showcase Chinese traditional culture.By doing so,we can provide a solid foundation and theoretical reference for the healthy development of both Chinese traditional culture and emerging digital cultural industries.
