The Rise And Fall Of Changzhou Wen Family Calligraph

As the longest cultural and artistic family in Jiangnan during the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the Wen family in Changzhou had an important influence.He moved to Suzhou from the early Ming Dynasty.With the joint efforts of Wenhui,Wenhong and Wenlin,he successfully transformed the family image into a cultural family,which played an important role in laying the groundwork for Wen Zhengming’s success.After that,many cultural and artistic talents represented by Wen Zhengming,Wen Peng and Wen Jia emerged from the Wen family in Changzhou.They have achieved great success and reputation in literature,calligraphy and painting,seal cutting,appreciation and other important fields.In the middle and late Ming Dynasty,Wen Zhenmeng of the Wen family held a high position and was quite famous.He and his younger brother Wen Zhenheng continued to compose the glory of the Wen family.The fame and family learning of the Wen family in Changzhou extended to the Qing Dynasty,and there were dozens of children who were good at painting and calligraphy.Wen’s children are important members of the Wu Clan Calligraphy School.Wen’s family calligraphy is related to the Wu Clan calligraphy dividend.With the development of Wumen Calligraphy School,the calligraphy of Wen Zhengming’s family gradually declined.Taking the calligraphy of the Wen family in Changzhou as the main research object,this paper systematically combs the origin and inheritance of the Wen family’s family history,as well as the relationship between the family members in different periods and the calligraphy appearance,family inscriptions and postscripts,and attempts to explore the rise and fall of the Wen family’s calligraphy in Changzhou through the artistic track of several generations of the family and the relationship with the Wu School of Calligraphy.
