The Ming dynasty is an important phase in Chinese calligraphy history, and Wu men calligraphy school has a great influence on the history of Ming dynasty calligraphy. As a regional calligraphy school, Wu men calligraphy school appeared in Suzhou bases on calligraphy and painting, It is rare that there is so high artistic achievement, so many of people and so wide influence. Wen zhengming is the leader of Wu men calligraphy school in Ming dynasty, he resigned in almost sixty years of age, since then he devoted himself to the poems, painting and calligraphy, he is not for fame, persevered in his calligraphy world until he died at the age of ninety. Wen Zhengming is the representative of Wuzhong district calligraphy, also the representative of the literati calligraphy. In his long life path, he has experienced many frustrations, his calligraphy also has gradually matured as his experience.Researching Wen Zhengming is not only for his own personal profiling, but also the further study to the Wuzhong district even Ming dynasty's calligraphy history. Study on his learning process is also the process to open the learning the basic rules and basic methods of calligraphy, that has universal significance to study calligraphy.This paper researches Wen Zhengming from four aspects: The first is the introduction to Wen Zhiming's background and himself, including his relationship with Wu men calligraphy school; The second is his calligraphy evolution process and the reasons; Then is the introduction to the artistic features of his calligraphy, including comparatively detailed analysis to his regular script in small characters and cursive scripts;The last is his influence in the gallery.
