| Sino-Mexican relationship currently face a significant trading gap.Mexico has a huge trade deficit of more than $ 60 billion.Variables such as The USMCA and the US-China trade war have directly impacted the world stage.This study aims to determine how to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between Mexico and China to improve the Mexican economy.Taking into consideration the economic,political and diplomatic evolution from 1972 to 2019.Research applies the globalization theory approach for the explanation of the trade,diplomatic and political weakness of Mexico comparing with China by examining the Sino-Mexican identities and actors.An important and differentiating contribution in this thesis is the consideration the political and foreign policy aspects of the ’Belt and Road’.The study offers findings concerning the political economy of China and Mexico.First,it indicates that the main challenge for Mexico is the redesign of its internal policy to promote reforms aimed at increasing competitiveness.Second,Low labor costs do not determine the competitive advantage,at least in the medium term.Proximity to the United States is an important strategic asset,but improving efficiency is clearly a priority.Third,the finding of the most abundant reserve of lithium in Sonora Mexico,is an important opportunity for Mexico to use lithium as a lever of economic development,making finished products.It also opens a dialogue between Mexico and China,due to the participation of the company Gangfeng Lithium in a project planned to begin in 2022. |
