| The 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China formally proposed that China will comprehensively promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese path to modernization.Agricultural and rural modernization is a vital part of Chinese path to modernization,which is also the foundation of a powerful socialist modernization country.Without agricultural and rural modernization,there will be no strong socialist modernization country.Strong agriculture is the foundation of a strong country.Only agricultural and rural modernization can achieve China’s socialist modernization.Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,General Secretary Xi Jinping has attached great importance to agricultural and rural modernization.In the process of building a modern country,based on China’s actual national conditions and the characteristics of the new era’s "agriculture,rural areas,and farmers",the latest achievements of Xi’s discourse on agricultural and rural modernization have been formed.These achievements have promoted the sinicization of agricultural and rural modernization theory,which has alsolaid a solid ideological foundation and provided action guidelines for solving the problems related to "agriculture,rural areas,and farmers".In the new era,China’s agricultural and rural modernization is stillfacing enormous challenges,including extensive agricultural industries,significant loss of ecological resources,severe food security situation,and difficulties in increasing farmers’ income,as well as a significant gap between the level of agricultural technology services and the goals of agricultural and rural modernization.All of these are challenges that need to be solved in the development of China’s agriculture,rural areas,and farmers.Only by promoting the modernization of rural industries,ecology,culture,governance,and the modernization of farmers’ lives basedon reality,can China achieve a leap from a traditional agricultural power to a modern agricultural power,thereby achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Therefore,the study of Xi’s important discourse on agricultural and rural modernization has greattheoretical and practical significance for the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy and the construction of an agricultural power with Chinese-style agricultural and rural modernization,as well as the comprehensive promotion of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in China’s new era and new journey.Based on literature research and the combination of theory and practice,etc,this thesis conducts in-depth research on Xi’s discourse on agricultural and rural modernization,and explores its theoretical origins,formation conditions,and formation process.Besides,the theoretical framework,theoretical characteristics,theoretical contributions,and its contemporary value are also analyzed.The thesis is divided into the following Chapters.Chapter 1 is anintroduction,mainly elaborating on the research background and significance,relevant concepts,current research status at home and abroad,research methods,innovation points and shortcomings.Chapter 2 firstly introduces the ideological origin,background,and process of Xi’s discourse on agricultural and rural modernization,through reviewing Xi’s discourse on agricultural and rural modernization,and relevant literatureof Marxism andthe CPC on agricultural and rural modernization.Second,based on the international and domestic development situation,this chapter clarifies the practical basis for Xi’s discourse on agricultural and rural modernization.Finally,the development and evolution of Xi’s ideas on agricultural and rural modernization are elucidated from three stages:germination,formation,and maturity.Chapters 3 and 4 respectively study Xi’s discourse on the overall requirements and main content of agricultural and rural modernization.Xi’s discourse on the overall requirements of agricultural and rural modernization mainly includes anchoring its strategic goals,clarifying its basic principles,emphasizing food security as a top priority,and outlining its overall plan.Xi’s discourse on the main content of agricultural and rural modernization mainly includes five aspects,that is,the modernization of rural industries is the focus,the modernization of rural ecology is the key,the modernization of rural culture is the guarantee,the modernization of rural governance is the foundation,and the modernization of farmers’ lives is the foundation.Chapter 5 analyzes the distinctive characteristics of Xi’s discourse on agricultural and rural modernization,from four aspects: standing on China’s actual Chinese characteristics,reflecting the requirements of the times for world development,meeting the value of people’s needs,and emphasizing coordinated and unified comprehensive development.Chapter 6 summarizes the contemporary value and global significance of Xi’s discourse on agricultural and rural modernization both theoretically and practically.On one hand,it inherits the agricultural and countryside development pattern of Marxism-Leninism,innovates the development concept of Chinese agricultural and rural modernization in the new era,and deepens the Communist Party of China(CPC)’s theoretical achievements on Chinese modernization.On the other hand,it provides an action guide for China’s agricultural and rural modernization in the new era,makes a footstep map of realizing powerful agriculture,beautiful countryside and rich farmers,refreshes the brand new passage of the rural modernization,promotes the development capacity of Chinese agricultural and rural modernization,and contributes a practical sample of China’s agricultural and rural modernization in developing countries.The innovation points of this thesis are reflected in two aspects.The first is the new research perspective.The current research on Xi’s discourse mainly focuses on the overall ideology of "agriculture,rural areas,and farmers",while there is little literature on Xi’s discourse on agricultural modernization.The second is the new theoretical logic.This thesis explores Xi’s discourse on agriculture and rural modernization by exploring its ideological sources,summarizing its formation conditions,concluding its main content,analyzing its main characteristics,and elaborating on its contemporary value. |
