With the rapid development of China’s economy and the widespread spread of Chinese culture,more and more foreign students come to China to study.Among them,Yemeni students studying in China are also increasing.However,due to cultural differences between the two countries,Yemeni students face many problems such as language ability,cultural adaptation and psychological adaptation when studying in China.Will these problems affect the academic adaptation of Yemeni graduate students in China? Beyond these issues,do individual background characteristics of Yemeni graduate students influence their academic adaptation? With such questions in mind,this article attempts to discuss the academic adaptation status of Yemeni graduate students in China and its influencing factors,and puts forward targeted suggestions based on the research results,in order to promote the academic adaptability of Yemeni graduate students in China.Based on literature analysis and theoretical analysis,this paper constructs a research model,determines the connotation of academic adaptation and its influencing factors,and develops questionnaires and interview outlines.The study selected 453 Yemeni graduate students studying in Chinese universities as the survey sample,and used SPSS software to conduct correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis on the statistical data of the questionnaires to test the academic adaptation status of Yemeni graduate students in China and the establishment of the influencing factor model.No;select 14 representative Yemeni graduate students in China as interviewees,analyze their expressions and narrations,understand their emotions and attitudes,and verify,supplement and extend the quantitative research results on the academic adaptation of Yemeni graduate students studying in China.The study found that the academic adaptability of Yemeni graduate students in China is not very optimistic.About half of the students have problems with academic adaptation,especially in language ability,academic research ability,psychological adaptation and social integration.It is the main influencing factor of the academic adaptation of graduate students in Yemen.The findings showed that teaching methods,language and research abilities,psychological adaptation,cultural adaptation and social adaptation factors,and self-efficacy had direct and indirect positive effects on academic adaptation.According to the results of regression analysis,academic participation factors in social integration have a significant impact on all dimensions of academic adaptation,and social support and social satisfaction in social integration have a significant impact on course learning,interaction with tutors,academic Adjustment in terms of goals and university environment satisfaction had significant positive effects;cultural adaptation stressors in psychological adjustment had significant effects only on academic goals and academic performance.The findings also show that academic adaptation has a direct positive effect on academic achievement.Combined with the interview results,it can be concluded that the theoretical model constructed in this paper is established,and the interview results show that the influence of language ability-psychological adaptation-self-efficacy-research ability-cultural adaptation on academic adaptation is gradually Progressive,in which the impact of language ability is the most obvious.The study also found that some demographic factors of Yemeni postgraduate students in China have an impact on different dimensions of academic adaptation,and there are statistically significant differences in the demographic characteristics of the subjects among the dimensions of academic adaptation.Based on the research,it can be seen that solving the problem of cross-cultural psychological adaptation is the key to the academic adaptation of Yemeni graduate students,promoting social identity is essential in the process of academic adaptation,and improving personal ability is crucial to academic adaptation.In this regard,strengthening the language ability training of Yemeni graduate students,building multiple platforms and organizing activities to promote the social integration of Yemeni graduate students in China,and promoting students’ social identity through the improvement of software and hardware facilities are possible ways to improve the academic adaptation of Yemeni graduate students in China.
