Work engagement has attracted researchers and organizations since its appearance on the research scene.Organizational researchers focused on work engagement due to its significant relationship to positive job outcomes and the well-being of employees.Teacher work engagement is now also an area of modern educational research.Like many other sectors,work engagement in the education sector has established its roots.The current study explored the relationship between work stressors,like workload and work life conflict,and teacher work engagement.Furthermore,this study evaluated the moderating role of teacher professional ethics on the relationships between workload to teacher work engagement and the both directions of work life conflict to teacher work engagement.For this purpose,a self-reported questionnaire was distributed among primary and secondary school teachers.A convenience sampling method was used to collect the data.A total number of 592 primary and secondary school teachers participated in the current study.The SPSS V.20 was used to analyze the data,and the AMOS V.23 was used for the confirmatory factor analysis.In the research,at first,reliability and validity analyses were performed.The internal consistency value of all measuring scale was in the reliable range,and convergent,discriminant validity were found valid.Before testing the direct effect measurement model fit,analysis was performed.The measurement model was seen good fit for the current data set.The linear regression analysis was performed to test the direct effect,and for the moderation analysis PROCESS 2.16 macro was utilized.The current research findings suggested that workload negatively affected the teachers’ work engagement.The work life family conflict was negatively related to teacher-work engagement,and family work conflict was also negatively associated with teacher-work engagement.The teacher’s professional ethics were positively related to teacher work engagement.The moderating analysis revealed that the teacher’s professional ethics mitigate the negative relationship between workload and teacher work engagement.The teacher professional ethics mitigate the negative relationship between work life family conflict and teacher work engagement,and the negative association of family work conflict to teacher work engagement was also moderated by the teacher professional ethics.These findings suggest that work stressors,workload,and two directions of work life conflict were negative predictors of teacher work engagement,and teacher professional ethics were a positive predictor of teacher work engagement.Furthermore,the teacher’s professional ethics proved a potential moderator and acted as a personal job resource.This study has practical implications for researchers and practitioners.In the teachers workload is perceived as a hindrance stressor,making them hard to develop work engagement.Second,both directions of work life conflict are significant work stressors in teachers,which is counterproductive in creating work engagement.Last,the teacher’s professional ethics is a valuable job resources for teachers and can act as a mitigating agent against the work stressor and initiate work engagement.
