Digital technology and data resources are promoting fundamental changes in industrial models and enterprise forms in the manufacturing industry.The construction of digital innovation ecosystems has become an important path to promote the innovative development of the manufacturing industry.Symbiosis mechanisms among innovation subjects are the bases to the operation of manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems.How to design efficient and effective symbiosis mechanisms to promote the high-quality development of manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems is worth studying under the background of constructing a nation with manufacturing power as well as constructing digital China.Taking the perspective of system structure,system function and system governance,this paper divides symbiosis mechanisms in manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems into symbiosis evolution mechanisms,value symbiosis mechanisms and symbiosis governance mechanisms,and studies the three types of mechanisms in detail.In terms of symbiotic evolution mechanisms,this paper analyzes the evolution mechanism of symbiotic networks among innovation subjects through simulation,and studies the evolution mechanism of innovation populations based on a modified logistic model.In terms of value symbiosis mechanism,on the one hand,based on case analysis,this paper analyzes the value symbiosis mechanism and knowledge collaboration mechanism among innovation subjects in manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems.On the other hand,taking specific digital innovation ecosystems of the electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry as samples,this paper explores the influence mechanism of the systems’ value symbiotic benefits by using qualitative comparative analysis(QCA).In terms of symbiotic governance mechanisms,this study constructs a three-level and five-dimension model of system symbiotic governance,in which the governance concept is expounded,and the corresponding mechanisms for the governance of innovation subjects and symbiotic environment are elaborated.The findings suggest:(1)Under the joint effects of endogenous and exogenous dynamic mechanisms,innovation subjects in manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems are connected with each other and form symbiotic networks.In different periods,innovation subjects choose appropriate partners to establish symbiotic relationships based on their own endowments,demands and the impact of the environment,which promotes the overall evolution of symbiotic networks.The evolution processes of symbiotic networks are driven by both self-organization and hetero-organization.(2)The symbiotic evolution trajectories of innovative populations are jointly affected by some factors,such as the initial size of the populations,maximum environmental carrying capacity,natural growth rates,damping coefficients of resource acquisition,and symbiotic action coefficients.Reciprocal symbiosis model is the best model for the evolution of innovation populations in manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems.(3)The value symbiosis among innovation subjects in manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems follows the logic of "value consensus – value cocreation – value sharing",and digital platforms play enabling roles in the process of value symbiosis.(4)In the process of knowledge collaborative innovation,innovation subjects in manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems could develop a mode of "connection – coordination –integration".(5)The value symbiosis benefit in manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems is affected by the variables regarding symbiosis unit,symbiosis matrix,symbiosis flow,symbiosis environment and their interaction.(6)The symbiotic governance of manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems should follow the principles of data-driven,multi-governance and the combination of technology and management,and be carried out from the dimensions of innovation subjects,symbiotic relationships,digital innovation rules and digital infrastructure.This study expands the connotation and extension of symbiosis in manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems,widens the theoretical perspectives of the research on digital innovation ecosystems,enriches the symbiosis theory and value co-creation theory in the context of digital innovation,and puts forward the governance ideas of manufacturing digital innovation ecosystems,which can provide theoretical support and practical guidance to promote the innovative activities of manufacturing enterprises and the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.
