General technology is a new course designed among the new curriculum reform of general senior high schools in China, and general technology teachers play a key role in the successful implementation of this course. However, all the teachers in senior high school for general technology are originally teachers for other related subjects, which is due to the fact that general technology education major has not been set in undergraduate curriculum of normal universities. Therefore, the training of professional teachers for general technology course via setting the major in colleges is of vital significance in the long run to the successful implementation of the new course.Focusing on related issues, this thesis provides an argumentation for the necessity and feasibility of setting the major or orientation of general technology education in undergraduate physics education in normal universities via the approaches of survey research and theoretical analysis. Based on an analysis of knowledge structure and qualifications for graduates of general technology education major, the thesis also designs a talent training program of this orientation covering training objectives, requirements, length of schooling and degree, main courses, major processes of practice teaching, class hours and credits, and teaching implementation schedules, which constitutes the core part of the whole thesis. Finally, the thesis makes a conclusion on the features of the training program.
