This article summarizes collected data in Subeiliang and surrounding exploration area, the application of coal basin analysis methods and principles, combined with sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, petrology, coal science and so on sequence stratigraphy analysis, detailed analysis of survey area geological background, coal seam conditions and factors affecting exploration areas of Subeiliang were analyzed. The study did not survey the northern sections Dongsheng Coalfield play reference guide. The northern edge of Dongsheng Coalfield coal layers and more layers and more locally coal, total thickness, layer thickness is small, thin~in the thick coal seam to the main basin, northern edge of the area also has rich coal belt, but the more layers. First, through analysis of regional structure on the formation of coal-bearing strata and coal and control role, that there are two transverse structure of the region with a longitudinal depression zone and a NE-trending structural zone has controlled the formation of coal, distribution and evolution regional tectonic stability of the coal accumulation benefit.Secondly, the evolution of the basin, a detailed analysis on the evolution of coal north of Yan'an environmental controls on coal analysis process, the deposition of Yan'an Formation is divided into three stages. On the regional, the first stage is the early coal-forming period, the second phase is the expansion for the powerful and prosperous period, the third paragraph is the stage of recession coal basin. Finally, analysis indicated that the formation of the river system to save the coal a greater impact. Yan'an deposition of river a greater impact on the coal seam, in addition to deposition phase control, erosion after deposition effect on the coal seam thickness, distribution and stability of large, may result in thinning coal seams occur with or without coal zone. Yan'an after deposition led to the scouring action of the erosion of the upper part or all of the missing coal-bearing strata, leading to the upper coal seam thickness, distribution and stability of the changes, and eventually form the northern boundary of the existing coal basin.
