In social and economic development, mineral resources especially the metallic minerals plays an important role in the social and economic development, thus it is the essential material foundation to the survival of human society and the economic development. In order to alleviate the pressure of domestic resources, China has developing the overseas mineral resources to a large extent at present, thus to get a favorable position in the trade of mining economy between our surrounding countries by its technical advantage in the field of mineral resources development. In recent years, with the rapid development of remote sensing exploration technology, extracting the altered and abnormal information in the TM remote sensing has become an economical, effective and efficient way, which can identify and directly extract mineral information, reduce the prospecting target.This article chooses the Cambodia Phnom Lung and its surrounding region as study area and TM remote sensing date on 26 December of 2004 as data source. On the basis of a full understanding and collection of a variety of geological dates, by the combination of the characteristics of surface features reflected by the band dates of remote sensing and the economic and technological conditions, to accomplish the preprocess works of the remote sensing images, including geometric correction, radiometric correction, band combination and contrast enhancement and so on. On the foundation of the bands correction analysis, using the optimal bands combination of the TM741 to interpret the information of stratum, rock and geological structure. Then taking the images enhancement and the related theories about ring and line structure as reference, to establish the geological interpretation signs and carry out visual interpretation of the remote sensing. The study area has 110 varying scale linear structure and 9 smaller ring structure.In the process of extracting the altered and abnormal information of mineralization, the function of mask can remove a variety of interfered information, such as cloud, snow, vegetation, water and shadow. Based on masking and the spectral characteristics of the typical minerals, the exploration of the altered information of the TM remote sensing images of the study area can by fulfilled by using the ratio method, the principal component analysis and so on. Respectively, taking TM1,3,4,5 and TM1,4,5,7 to carry out the principal component analysis, thus to extract and graduate the altered information about iron staining and hydroxyl. Finally, analyzing the relationship between the altered and abnormal information and the stratum, rock and geological structure comprehensively, combined with the results of remote sensing interpretation and the geological and mineral material to delineate two predicted mineral areas.Owing to the favorable results, extracting the altered and abnormal information of the remote sensing images can delineate the abnormal and prospective remote sensing areas, which can narrow the scope of mineral exploration, decrease the mining costs, reduce unnecessary workload, provide true and reliable information of remote sensing mineralization of the further geological and mineral exploration to certain low-leveled basic geological and poor conditioned areas.
