Geological modeling technology is one of the important means to study the reservoir heterogeneity. Meanwhile, it is also the basis for numerical reservoir simulation. Currently there have been a large number of relevant methods in this field. But, most of them are based on geostatistics. In the application of geostatistics, variogram is an important tool to define the weight functions for estimation of unknown locations. Thus, this basically leads such modeling methods to be sensitive to the quality of the control points (wells). Therefore, there is high risk for the modeling results in areas where there are fewer wells.Seismic Driven Modeling is being as a newly-proposed idea, which is trying to avoid variogram of geostatistics directly, and applies the seismic data in spatial mode through the formation transformation function. Nowadays the theoretical study has made great progress, however the practical application has not yet extensively conducted.Firstly, this thesis will make a brief introduction about the commonly used modeling methods. By taking the ordinary Kriging method as an example to illustrate the application of variogram in geostatistical modeling.Then, the seismic driven modeling approach will be introduced. From this point this thesis focuses on the practical application and effectiveness evaluation. Taking an oilfield in Bohai Bay region as the target field, this work builds a three-dimensional geological model using the field data. And the actual application process based on this modeling method is explored. Also, the results are evaluated from many aspects. On the one hand this thesis is to verify the effectiveness of this modeling method and its characteristics. Another hand is to find the disadvantages and to recommend future improvements.
