The Distribution Network is built on expansive terrain. It contains abundant geography information. In order to reflect these location information, GIS is usually used as a platform on which the Distribution Network is analysed. The traditional GIS aims at professional Network analyser, it provides little geography information but some relative position and configuration of the Distribution Network, using which the advanced functions are realized. But to the construction men and managers, they need only the result of the analysing and the spot geography information. They need a Distribution Network information displaying platform which contains plenty geography information. The traditional GIS is too professional to be popularized, there are two difficulties, first it's hard to update the geography information, second it's not easy to modify the Distribution Network information on the traditional GIS.As a 3D viewer of global exact satellite images, GoogleEarth can settle these problems. It's cheap to empolder some applications based on GoogleEarth, it has many functions and can be popularized easily. It provides real geography backdrop and convenient operations to the construction men, and to the managers, it can display the static and dynamic information of the Distribution Network.According to the need of Distribution Information System and the key technique of GoogleEarth, present a suit of application mode based on GoogleEarth in the Distribution Information System, which can solve the problem of traditional GIS. Design the WebGIS based on GoogleEarth, on which the static and dynamic data can be showed lively. Describe a method of storage of the geography data based on GML, solve the problem of separate storage of property and geography data. Present methods of building the electric grid data on GoogleEarth that can show some usefull information, using GPS to get the orientation of the electric establishment, displaying the real time information and static data on GoogleEarth lively based on SCADA, combining the geographic data of other GIS, all of the above have settle the embarrassment of the traditional GIS. Finally introduce the use of SketchUp on building 3D GIS in GoogleEarth.GoogleEarh can cooperate with the traditional GIS, as an information displaying platform, will improve the level of Distribution Information System greatly.
