Through the use of a combined concept of time and space, in order to chart a precise time map of the Macau Special Administrative Region, the author divides the Macau peninsular, the Taipa island and the Coloane island into many different time cells, which are made according to different geographical features, road networks, population distributions, population habitual behaviors and daily activities at different areas. These time cells consist of various subunits such as outings, attractions, and external transports etc., which are the key elements of a time map.Because time distances among different road networks ascertain the relationship between time cells, that construct the major frame of the time map, the accuracy of different road class divisions is crucial, as it affects the precision of the time map significantly. In order to minimize deviations when charting the map, data is gathered and analyzed at different time everyday, such as at peak (from 8 am to 6 pm) and at off-peak hours (before 8 am and after 6pm). This is based on the traffics at midline of the road, which include vehicles' traveling time, time spent on give-way intersections, as well as time spent on the red light cycles in different areas. After all, the analyzed data gives the average speeds of different roads (except for roads that are dead-ended, which do not affect the completeness of the road networks), which are then ranked into seven grades according to speed in order to calculate the traveling time for every single section. Finally, in accordance with the traveling time for each section, in another words, the data that represents the best path (with the shortest traveling time) to travel from a residential area to the center of an attraction, three main time maps are charted: (1) A time map that outline the geographical features of Macau, Taipa and Coloane; (2) A time map that represents the Macau Special Administrative Region citizens' city life and productivity; and (3). Time maps with topics centered on paramedical services in the city such as fire brigade, police station and hospital...
