| Traffic congestion has become a major problem during the process of medium-sized urban development, which not only affects the economic development of a city, but also brings a lot of inconvenience for daily travel urban residents. Therefore, how to control traffic congestion in major cities has become imperative authorities.This paper presents a graphic and digital real-time traffic road map based on GPS of transit vehicles. Compared with traditional real-time traffic road map with red yellow and green lines marking real-time traffic volumes, such as Google, Baidu and Sogou, this map, in addition to marking real-time traffic volumes with red yellow and green lines, can not only display the real-time average speed of two road section in specific digital, but also show the traffic road congestion in the form of real-time traffic road photos when traffic road congestion occur in some road sections. Although many models, such as Hidden Markov Models, Kalman Filter Models, Statistical Models, have been used to research real-time traffic information, most of them are based on GPS data of transit vehicles or float cars transmitted to the centre in a period time. Considering the process stress of server and the cost of data transmission, the data transmission period is set by20seconds. What’s more, whether the real-time traffic road data is transmitted or not is decided by time interval rather than the position of transmit vehicles. The dwell time at bus stops and signalized intersections will not be precisely calculated out with processing the received GPS dataThis paper proposes a novel estimating model named interval matching and selective transmission. In this model GPS collection terminals will collect vehicles location information every one second and pre-process the collected real-time data. Only the data which meet the requirements is transmitted to the data center. This model not only lower the cost of data transmission and reduce data processing stress of server, but also calculate the dwell time at bus stops and signalized intersections out, and thus greatly reduces the impact of accuracy of estimating model’s estimation to real-time traffic information. Based on the real-time traffic road information of this model, we develop the graphic and digital real-time traffic road map, and provide more detailed travelling reference information for travelers. Meanwhile we demonstrate the estimating model with using51Maps API as an interactive map. |
