| The click, beetles (family Elateridae) is one of the largest families of the Coleopterous insects. The larvae of several species are of prime economic importance. By dissecting the male genitalia of Elateridae samples in Department of Applied Biological Engineering, Shenzhen Polytechnic College and Huazhong Agricultural University, we make a systemic research on the male genitalia of Chinese Elateridae. The male genitalia of 77 species, 43 genus, 11 subfamilies have been illustrated and described. Keys to subfamily, genera and species are also provided. The research indicate that the variety of Chinese Elateridae s male genitalia is very complex. The male genitalia between closed species- or genus may exist big difference. Therefore, the male genitalia of different tribes, even different subfamily may be similar. As a result, we must apply the male genitalia as well as other morphology in classification and identification.Based on the male genitalia of 77 species, we select eight chatacters to study the phylogenetic relationgships among the 11 sub-families of Elateridae in China by Hennig86 program. The results show that: the 11 sub-families of Elateridae in China can divided into three groups. The first group is Negastriinae, Cardiophrinae and Conoderinae, the second is Pityobiinae, Denticollinae and Melanotinae, and the last is Oxynopterinae, Agrypninae. Pyrophorinae, Elaterinae and Oestodinae. The results are of the most similar to the system of Kishii (1987) .In this paper, we also analyse the faunal structure of Chinese Elateridae based on the Elateridae samples in Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Science, State Key Laboratory for Biocontrol, Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University, Department of Applied Biological Engineering, Shenzhen Polytechnic College, Huazhong Agricultural University and references. The results show that: Pityobiinae has not been finded in Palaearctic region. The other 11 subfamilies all distribute in Palaearctic region and Oriental region. The proper Oriental genus has reached to 64, half of the total. The South region has the most genus, 100 genus, 78.1% of the total. While the North region and Qingzang region have the least genus, 21 and 14 genus, 16.4% and 10.9% of the total respectively. In the Zoogeographical region of China, 37 genus (28.9%) are the South region. 13 genus (10.2%) are the South, Southwest and Central region. 8genus (6.3%) are the South and Central region. With the progress of phylogenetic classification of Chinese Elateridae, the situation may be changed afterward. |
