The land and resources sensing investigation is being made on 32 provinces, municipalities and municipalities directly under the Central Government including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In the course of the investigation, many kinds of result data resources have been created, such as graphics, images, texts, statistics and multimedia data, which have complex relations. In order to effectually organize, scientifically manage and completely share these result resources, the result management subsystem of provincial land and resources remote sensing investigation has been studied and developed, which has the background of result data integration and information system of provincial land and resources remote sensing investigation.The paper has six chapters: Chapter 1 is Introduction, which introduces the background of the subsystem, as well as expatiates the development status and directions of GIS, metadata technology and system integration technology; Chapter 2 is System Analysis, which analyzes characters and specialties of users, data and project assignment. It expatiates the requirement of multi-source data integration and metadata technology, and users' need of system functions; Chapter 3 is System Design, the author has designed the relationship of this subsystem and the chief system, and the run environment, structure of organization and function of metadata and data has also been designed; Chapter 4 is Key Technology Analysis. In this chapter, many required key technologies in the development of this subsystem have been studied, such as COM, IMS, SDE and ADO database access. Chapter 5 is System Development and Realization. some system functions have been developed, such as adding data into database, updating data, querying data, downloading and ordering service, etc. These functions are supported by ArcGIS and SQL SERVER 2000, and based on C# and VB 6.0; Chapter 6 is Conclusion and Prospect. The author concludes the research result and indicates the next development and problems to study and solve.In conclusion, the result management subsystem is based on metadata and GIS, and has the client/server mode. It is developed using COM(Arcobjects) and ASP.NET technologies truss. The functions of the system are adding project result data into database, editing metadata, querying and searching as well as updating and vindicating the result data, downloading and ordering service. So the system can support all-in-one management, update and vindication, share service of the result data of land and resources sensing investigation. On the other hand, there are many things to further strengthen in future, such as perfecting the metadata system, integrating multi-source result data all in one, and developing run system with B/S structure.
