Three-dimensional geological modeling (3DGM) is a science which studies the information management, data organization, spatial modeling and data expression of the stratum and its environment with modem spatial information theory; which also studies the real 3D reproduction and mutual visualization of the stratum and its environment information with scientific visualization technology. The study of the key technology and application problem of 3DGM is a key issue of digital mine research, which plays an important role in promoting information construction of geologically relevant domain, heightening management efficiency and aiding in decision-making and analysis. With drill hole information and section charts as fundamental data, the author designed the corresponding 3D topological data structure, presented a general process of 3D geological modeling based on sections, constructed the wire frame facial model and corresponding block model of the geological body, finally realized "wire frame-block model" facial-volumetric-mixed modeling. 3D graphical interface OpenGL and MFC integration development environment were adopted here for the visualization operation such as move, rotation and zoom, visualization effect such as lightning, material and texture, clipped model displaying and spatial information query and analysis of the geological model. Some key algorithms were researched here: a "cut-and-sew" algorithm was presented here to resolve the reconstruction problem of adjacent section contour lines which different from shape and polygon vertex count; a random polygon (with inside island or not) triangulation algorithm based on CDT was studied to resolve the modeling problem of complex geological model with stones and holes inside; a grid-constraining algorithm of judging whether a point is in a polyhedron was studied here to construct the corresponding geological block model which constrained to wire frame model.
