The brown-spored, coprophilous fungi Anellaria Karst., Copelandia Bres., Panaeolina R. Maire, Panaeolus (Fr.) Quel. and Psilocybe (Fr.) Kumm were studied, and a brief review of the history and the ethnomycology of these taxa were included in the paper.Based on 213 specimens which were deposited in the Mycological Herbarium of Jilin Agricultural University (HMJAU), Mycological Herbarium of Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Science (HMAS) and Mycological Herbarium of the Microbiology Institute of Guangdong (HMIGD), 26 taxa were recorded form China of which Psilocybe mongolica Sarentoya et Tolgor was a new species. And Panaeolina castaneifolia (Murr.) Sarentoya et Tolgor and Anellaria solidipes (Peck) Sarentoya et Tolgor were new combinations. Copelandia tropicalis (Ola'h) Sing. & R.A. Weeks, Panaeolus alcidis Moser, Psilocybe baeocystis Sing. & Smith, Psilocybe wayanadensis K.A. Thomas, Manim & Guzman and Psilocybe yungensis Sing. & Smith were new to China. Moreover, Anellaria solidipes (Peck) Sarentoya et Tolgor, Panaeolus acuminatus (Schaeff.) Quel., Panaeolus ater (Lange) Hora, Panaeolus sphinctrinus (Fr.) Quel., Panaeolus subbalteatus (Berk. & Br.) Sacc. and Psilocybe coprophila (Bull, ex Fr.) Kumm. were new to Inner Mongolia, Panaeolina castaneifolia (Murr.) Sarentoya et Tolgor was new to Jilin, Panaeolus subbalteatus (Berk. & Br.) Sacc. was new to Heilongjiang, Psilocybe cubensis (Earle) Sing. was new to Guangdong, Psilocybe fasciata Hongo was new to Guangxi, Copelandia cyanescens (B. & Br.) Sing., Panaeolus acuminatus (Schaeff.) Quel. were new to Ningxia, Panaeolus subbalteatus (Berk. & Br.) Sacc. and Psilocybe venenata (Imai) Imazeki & Hongo were new to Xizang. Descriptions, illustrations and line drawings of all species were provided in detail, with notes on their ecology and distribution, and keys for their identifications. And the spores of all the taxa were studied with use of the Scanning-electron Microscope.
