With the unified arrangement of China Geology Survey Bureau, the areas of finished and arranged multiple purpose regional geochemistry survey and regional eco-geochemistry evaluation amount to nearly 2 million Km~2 all through the country. At the same time huge amount of high precision data and rich geochemistry information were produced. One of the core problems to be faced with at present is about how to manage, develop and utilize the data and information. One of the solutions is the construction of Eco-Geochemistry evaluation information system and database of Agricultural System in Dongting Lake Area of Hunan Province. This article presents the design, implementation, contents, functions and use methods of Eco-Geochemistry evaluation information system and database of Agricultural System. And some basic principles to be complied with throughout the design and develop procedure were summarized. The development of database of Eco-Geochemistry Evaluation uses the suitable Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Chinese Edition Database. The development of information system adopts the newest Visual Studio 2005 English Edition, VB.NET developing tool. By keeping the database connection parameter in application configuration file, and executing database query in stored procedure, the flexibility and performance of system are improved remarkably. And these also speed up the development process.When a use logins the system, sub class databases are optional and the manipulating operations such as data query, add new, modify, delete are permitted. A user can query the database according to the keyword either for accuracy or fuzzy words. Including the result database, user can save or output the query result. User can also browse the database statistics report and record count to get integral information about each database.Information such as images, statistics report, basic data, record documents and etc., is stored in the database. Meanwhile, the information system builds up keywords of related documents to manage the information rationally and effectively. And this also makes it more convenient for the system administrator to maintain and the users to query. Consideration about the continuation of software development is concerned during the design of system for the later developing work on a relatively good platform. At the same time, the system code lines are absolutely written manually, without generating code automatically to respect the autonomy of developing staff. After implementation of basic functions, the new requirements can be rapidly designed and implemented in a short period with VB.NET developing tool. The contents of the Eco-Geochemistry database of Agricultural System are too numerous to enumerate. So the design and implementation of database and information system is just a small step of start. Facing the great amount of hours of time and work loads for the update and maintenance of database and information system, the development and design based on the research and application procedures are full of more chances and challenges.
