Along with the development of network education, network experimental instruction has increasingly become an important component of it. Many subject's courses, especially science and engineering courses often need student to do massive experiments to train theirs abilities of observing and operating. Therefore, how to establish a virtual laboratory on which remote students can do their experiments has become an important research topic at present. On the basis of defination and classfication of the virtual laboratory, the thesis posts that the development of virtual simulation laboratory is the effective way to resolve the problem of current network experimental instruction. Through the summary of current development, features and designing principles of virtual simulation laboratory, the thesis analyses the instructional design, the system design and the technology solution methods of it. Then, taking the"photoelectric effect experiment"as a case, the thesis discusses the development and test of the virtual simulation laboratory of physics in universities.The thesis falls into five parts.Based on the description of the research background, the author definites the research issues on the Part one.Network experimental instruction has increasingly become an improtant component of the Distance Education. However, judging from the present situation, network experiments often stick to the performangce of text and pictures, or the assist of simple animations, videos and audios, and the Real-time operating experiment based on the web is often too little. Along with the development of Virtual Realtiry technology, the virtual laboratory is considerd as a weapon to resolve the bottlenecks of the field of network experimental instruction. So researching how to build a web-based virtual simulation laboratory has been imminent.Part two is about the basic theory of virtual laboratory and virtual simulation laboratory. On the basis of summing up the predecessors. the author re-defined and re-classified the virtual laboratory. through the classification, virtual simulation laboratory is classified as a type of virtual laboratory. It has its own merits in addition to the common characters of virtual laboraroty, and is more suitable for the current network experimental instruction. Then the thesis introduces the current development situation of virtual simulation laboratory at home and abroad, and the most important thing on the part two is that the author sums up the designing principle of virtual simulation laboratory. Virtual simulation laboratory has been well developed interiorly and abroad. It's software-based simulation of three-dimensional virtual laboratory, with a virtual laboratory features: opening, economic, interactive, shared and safety; In addition to the characteristics of virtual laboratory, it has its own characteristics: 3d simulation, simulating process, data processing depending on the actual operation, and the conveniences for transmission as small files and so on. It is precisely because of these advantages, that makes virtual simulation laboratory plays a decisive role in the current network experimental instruction. It must follow certain desiging principles in the desiging process of virtual simulation laboratory, rather than the desinging people's optional thinkings.For example,feasibility, scientificalness, intuitionistic, interactive, artistic and economic.The third part discusses the designing of virtual simulation laboratory in detail.Before the development of vitual simulation laboratory, it need a series of designing, include pre-demand analysis, instructional design, system design, content design, and definition of technology solutions. This thesis locations the virtual simulation laboratory in the instructional experiments, rather than scicentific experiments. so it emphasizes the simulation of process and phenomenon of experiments more greatly. Through the analyses of instruction goals, instruction content and instruction object (user), the author designs the system, and gives the system structures and processes of the virtual simulation laboratory, designs the content, and divides the virtual simulation laboratory into two parts, basic modules and additional modules. Based on the comparison of current technologies of developing the virtual laboratory, the author chooses the Cult3d and flash as tools. On part four, taking the"photoelectric effect experiment"as a case, the thesis discusses the development process and steps of vitual simulation laboratory.Through the analyse of the photoelectric effect experiment, the author gives the organizational structure, basic rules and needed functions of photoelectric effect virtual simulation laboratory. The author develops all of the modules ( experiment-goals module, experiment-theory module, experiment-process module, data- processing module, practice and test module, simulational laboratory module)of it separately, After concluding the flow of the virtual simulation laboratory development. When the virtual simulation laboratory has the first scale, the author tests and evaluates it mainly through the desinger's self-assessment and user's assessment, in order to develop a vitual simulation laboratory which may be more suitable for the learners.The fifth part is the summary of theory and practice about the full text, and maks the prospects of the future research and practice.
