Based on the general situations of domestic and foreign physics concept teaching and constructivism learning theory, five tests on physics concepts derived from the United States are translated and a questionnaire on the factors affecting the university students' concept learning is designed in the paper. Subsequently, common mistakes concerning physics concepts (mainly mechanical, electromagnetic, thermal) are summed up on the basis of one-semester investigation aimed at different levels of students in different schools of different regions. Through survey and analysis of college physics concept teaching effect, key factors affecting the students' concept learning are identified.The research indicates that students have difficulties in physics concepts comprehension in the following situations. 1. Students would find it difficult to accept the concepts that contradict the everyday experience. 2. It's difficult for students to understand the abstract physics concepts that can not been seen or touched. 3. When physics concepts are combined with the mathematics, students often feel difficult. 4. If mathematical expressions can not fully reflect (or even collide with) the nature of physics concepts, students often have difficulty in understanding them and are apt to form wrong concepts. 5. Students are inclined to confuse similar concepts or the correlated concepts because they can not understand their nature. 6. Students often tend to ignore the vector and transient characteristic of physics concepts. 7. Students consider it difficult to accept the concepts that are self-contradictory.As indicated by the research, there are certain key factors, such as learning methods, the concept foundation, the learning capability, the situation of reading the teaching material and reference books and the mathematics foundation, which influence the university physics concept learning.Based on the study and constructivism learning theory, a model of university physics concept teaching has been constructed and corresponding strategies have been put forward. Additional to the several practical suggestions of the physics concept teaching and learning are also proposed at the end of the paper.
