Inducting undergraduate using computer to do numerical calculation in college physics learning is a new characteristics of computer assisted instruction (CAI), and also is the combining product of computer and the college physics. Base on the current situation of the development of CAI in physics teaching of our country, this paper dose some probe on inducting undergraduate using computer to do numerical calculation in college physics learning.Firstly, this paper give some discuss on the necessity and the feasibility about it. Then, it come to the conclusion that by introducing numerical calculation to physics teaching and learning in college, the undergraduate can not only get further understanding about the knowledge of college physics, but also their ability in solving practical problems is improved. By analyzing the college computer establishment and the computer skill of the undergraduate in our country, it come to the conclusion that introducing numerical calculation to physics teaching and learning in college is feasible in our country.Then, base on methodology, this paper discuss several kinds of numerical calculation that appear in the college physics and the corresponding solution about them, then give some discuss about the process, the principle and the problem needed to be noticed in numerical calculation. It come to the conclusion that MATLAB and FORTRAN are more adapt to undergraduate to use in numerical calculation.In the end, according to the experience of myself, this paper give some practical discussion about the application of numerical calculation to physics teaching and learning in college, and two kind of numerical calculation are discussed here: the first, the numerical analysis of physical parameter, and the numerical analysis of the dielectric constant of negative refractive index material and the numerical analysis of far-field condition of magnetic time-variable dipoles are provided as the samples for it; the second, the solution of electromagnetic non-classical boundary value problem, and the solution of boundary value problem of finite conductor stick is provided as a samples for it.This paper advocate that teacher induct undergraduate using computer to do numerical calculation in college physics learning, it is not the meaning that the numerical calculation is replace for the existing teaching mode, the existing teaching method and the existing teaching content, but is the meaning of providing a kind of method of using computer to settle problem for the physics learning of undergraduate, and give some practical reference for computer assisting college physics teaching.
