The microelectronic technology and space geodetic techniques'development bring boundless vitality to geographic information systems. In recent years, because the GPS system can provide position, velocity and time information, it has been used widely, relating to all areas of the national economy. Embedded system has broad foreland of science and prospects of application .It becomes one of the most important invention after personal computers and the Internet. GPS, Embedded integration technology which can achieve the goal of real-time positioning and the completion of the embedded positioning system design and implementation, have great prospects of development and application.This project mainly researches the design and implementation of GPS orientation system based on the ARM microprocessor. The papers based on the structure ARM9 embedded GPS positioning system, focuses on research and design for embedded processor core S3C2410 circuit and customize Windows CE software platform according to embedded hardware system. It designs Motorola M12 GPS Receiver Module drive and control program and spatial geographic information display positioning system using Embedded Visual C + + 4.0 software in Windows CE environment and use the Windows CE graphical display mode to design positioning of display mode with electronic maps. This paper mainly deals with research embedded hardware development, principles of GPS receiver module application development, embedded Windows CE operating system customization and system construction, based on the C Language Interface-driven programming and embedded visualization application design technology, more importantly, the technology based on these graphics mode with a geographical positioning system embedded.To design and implement embedded positioning system hardware and software, this paper uses ARM9 core as hardware and Windows CE operating system as software to design embedded technology. The experimental results confirmed that the embedded positioning system can accomplish the desired positioning goal, and it has some reference value to the design of positioning system based on the embedded technology.
