In this thesis, an intelligent transportation system based on FCD and WebGIS is studied and built.FCD is regarded as the main data source in this thesis. FCD (floating car data) is a popular data collection method with dynamic sensors. Data collection method of FCD is introduced and the reliability and stability of FCD data is analyzed. Based on the theoretical study on FCD, a transformation model between FCD data and road network is given.Based on the FCD, Web applications are discussed in this thesis. It includes: Web Geographical Information System based on B/S structure, the establishment of database server, Web server and application server based on ArcIMS, ArcSDE and Oracle and a new algorithm for searching the optimal path in terms of consuming time and efficiency of web network is proposed. This algorithm improves the efficiency for searching the optimal path by the improvement on data structure, search method and storage method. In addition, some practical road information is added to find an applied optimal path.In the end, based on all the theoretical studies, combined with ESRI products, such as ArcIMS and ArcSDE, and Oracle, a real-time WebGIS system based on FCD is completed. This system publishes real-time crowed map of transportation dynamically and processes requests from clients parallelly. Therefore, response efficiency is improved a lot. This system is applied into a real project. And the results have proved its feasibility in the reality.
